Eugene let out a cold snort. "He's already a big kid, yet he's got the nerves of a mouse."
Mia sighed. "He's always been frail and sick, so he really is quite timid."
Noelle thought back to the boy from earlier. "Even if he's a little scared, he's pretty smart."
After all, grabbing the fire extinguisher at that moment had been the right move. She went on to explain the whole car accident in detail.
Mia clutched her chest and gasped. "Oh my... Thank goodness it didn't turn out worse."
"Exactly. Just making it out safe is already the biggest blessing." Noelle still felt unsettled as she recalled the pile-up on the bridge.
Mia said, "Alright, I should head down and check on things. Ivy helped me out once before, so I can't just walk away now."
"Go ahead. We're fine here anyway."
With that, Mia and Eugene left together. Alfred turned to Noelle. "Nelly, I know that crash years ago was traumatic, but don't let this affect you. Accidents like this are rare."
"I know. You don't need to tiptoe around it. I was shaken, but I'm not that fragile," Noelle replied calmly.
Alfred gave a light chuckle. "Good to hear. By the way, Mr. Sulton stormed off earlier after hearing you two were running late. He dug up something new on the PZ Group, too."
Noelle replied, "That sounds just like the prideful Mr. Sulton I know. I'll make it up to him later."
Ever since the lawsuit incident, Jeremy had been more cooperative with them, even taking on some of their investigative work. His legal experience covered all sorts of fields, and his connections ran deep. The lead they had on that island before had also come through Jeremy.
Cedric, however, looked displeased. He turned to Noelle and said firmly, "You're not going to see him alone. I'm going with you."
He clearly didn't like how close Jeremy had gotten to her.
Alfred raised a brow, voice laced with amusement. "Jealous already? You do realize Mr. Sulton has been a huge help. Regretting how cold you were to him before?"
