No longer a pushover (Noelle and Cedric) novel Chapter 1386

Joe hesitated before saying, "You all know what the boss is like. We thought working with Ivy would win us some credit, but we never expected she'd screw us over."

"What do we do now? Should we take Noelle's deal and switch sides?"

"Are you stupid? That woman's just trying to trick us into letting her go, and yet you're buying that crap?"

Joe got back into the van and stared at Noelle. "Let's make a deal."

"Have you thought it out?" Noelle asked.

"We're never joining you, so forget about that. We're not that dumb."

"So what do you want?"

"Give us money. It doesn't have to be a huge ransom, and once we get that, we'll let you go."

Noelle scanned the abductors' faces and wondered why they'd suddenly changed their minds. She guessed Cedric must have said something to rattle them.

So, she said, "That's easy since we've got money."

"Very well. Sorry about this, Ms. Liddell." With that, the abductors slapped duct tape over her mouth and yanked a black hood down over her head.

Noelle's chest tightened with unease at the thought of what they could be planning. A few minutes later, she heard the abductors get out of the van until footsteps were no longer heard.

Had they left?

…

After hanging up, Cedric turned to Alfred and asked, "Did you get a fix on the signal?"

"We did. They're around here, which means they must've entered the mountains."

Cedric pressed his lips into a thin line. Then, he instructed, "We shall start the search then. With the mountain locked down, we can find them since they'll run out of options soon."

Magnus thought about it before pointing out. "Wait, something's off here. The signal in the mountains is terrible.
