No longer a pushover (Noelle and Cedric) novel Chapter 1387

Cedric turned to Alfred and asked, "Well, how did it go?"

"The tracker's pinging right here. It shows they didn't make it into the mountains."

Magnus muttered, "These guys are useless idiots to be slower than us."

Rubbing his chin, Alfred murmured, "Yeah, it doesn't add up that they'd be behind us."

Cedric studied the location on the laptop and ordered, "Search every nearby residential building where they could hide. I refuse to believe we can't flush them out."

"Exactly. They're all foreigners, whose accents will give them away, so they can't blend in for long."

Magnus frowned. "But the abductors demanded we pull our men from the entrance of the mountains, so how do we keep searching?"

"Right. They probably want to sneak Noelle up the mountain once they're sure it's clear. That makes the ransom handoff easier."

Cedric thought of a plan and said, "Pull most of our people back, but covertly plant some inside, disguised as family members of the trekkers. They'll stay in the area and watch for any sign of the abductors."

"Smart. If our people leave, the tourists will come back in, and so will the abductors. They won't dare show themselves otherwise."

Cedric's gaze swept past the scenic spot around the mountains. "Let's move."

He and his team made a big, deliberate show of marching down the mountains just so the abductors could see them leaving.

Sure enough, one of the abductors spotted them and hurried back. "Cedric's crew is pulling out, Joe."

"Good. Once it starts getting busy, we'll blend in as tourists and sneak in."

"But Cedric sealed the mountains earlier, so what if no one shows up? Won't we reveal ourselves if we enter?"

"Relax. This is a top tourist destination, and many people hike or take an evening stroll. I'm sure there'd be plenty of people."

Joe unfolded a local trail map of the scenic spot. According to the information he gathered, his plan seemed solid.
