No longer a pushover (Noelle and Cedric) novel Chapter 1397

Donovan looked at Carl and asked, "So what's your plan exactly?"

Carl just stared ahead. "You'll know when the time comes."

"Carl, you need to tell me now."

"What's the rush? Noelle's my sister. I would never hurt her. The future I've decided for her is the best option there is."

Carl felt that being around the Greenes had caused Noelle to think of herself as a sort of saint, feeling as if she could save the world itself simply because she had been reborn while holding onto the memory of her previous life.

He believed that her actions were only putting herself in danger.

That was why Carl took Noelle away, to keep her far from Cedric and his group of friends, so that she would no longer have to worry about anything and could live a carefree and happy life.

Donovan started to regret his actions. "Carl, I can't go along with you if you won't tell me what's going on."

Carl replied, "Just trust me on this, Donovan. You can tell Cedric about all of this if you feel that something's not right. The choice is always in your hands."

Donovan started hesitating once more. He then looked at Carl and said, "You promise that you won't hurt Noelle, right?"

"I promise."

Donovan then nodded. "Alright, then I'll take her away now. It's not right for her to stay in the trunk anyway."

Carl then pulled the car over and switched seats with Donovan. And with that, Donovan drove off by himself.

Meanwhile, Frank had just parked his car when he pulled out his phone to call Carl. "Why did Donovan just leave?"

Carl replied, "He got a call from the office saying that the authorities have arrived for an investigation into PZ Group's investments. Now that PZ Group's scam was exposed, Donovan was naturally being investigated as well since he was rather close with them."

Frank nodded. "Makes sense. Shouldn't be much trouble, right?"
