In the end, Noelle collapsed onto the bed and lost consciousness.
Just then, Carl opened the door and walked in. He came to Noelle's side, took the phone from her limp hand, and gently laid her on the bed.
Softly sighing, he murmured, "I told you; there's no escape for you."
Emery stepped forward and reminded him. "She should wake up in about an hour."
"Be careful from now on. Make sure she doesn't get her hands on any electronics," Carl said, nodding.
"We could let Ms. Liddell use a computer that runs just on our internal network. She won't be able to reach the outside world."
Carl raised an eyebrow and dismissed the idea. "Give her a computer, and it won't take her long to hack through our system and reach Cedric."
"Is Ms. Liddell really that skilled?"
A proud smile tugged at Carl's lips as he replied, "Of course she is; she's my sister. It's just a shame she's so disobedient."
Emery hesitated before asking, "Is that man she likes so worthless?"
"Yes. No amount of persuasion would change her mind, and she'd even cut ties with the Liddells, so I had no choice but to go to such extremes.
"I'm sure that given one month, she won't be begging to see him anymore." Carl gently brushed against Noelle's forehead as he continued, "Then, we'll be a happy family again."
The things that had taken place in their past lives would never happen again, and Noelle would always be the little sister dependent on her brothers.
Just the thought of that day got Carl hooked up in excitement. Just then, he received a call from Donovan. After picking up, he asked, "What's up?"
"Why aren't you here yet? It's Noelle's funeral today, and everyone from the Liddell family is here except you. If you don't show up, not only will Frank and Blake start to suspect you, but the Greenes will, too."
That was especially when Cedric had been suspicious of Carl once. Things would have gotten worse if the latter hadn't even shown up at the funeral.
Carl frowned and replied, "I'm on my way now."
