Noelle could hear Cedric's deep and slightly hurried breathing in her ear. Her heart trembled, and her fingers gripped the bedsheet tightly.
Cedric tilted his head and chuckled. "Why did you dodge?"
Noelle's voice quivered. "Why wouldn't I? You're just being a rogue."
Cedric straightened up slightly as his gaze swept over her face. "With our relationship, I'm not being a rogue. I'm just adding a little intimacy."
She was his girlfriend. Wasn't he allowed to kiss her?
Noelle lifted her chin and questioned, "If I remember correctly, I told you we broke up. We're not in that kind of relationship anymore."
"What kind of relationship?" Cedric asked as he cupped her face. "Let me say it one last time; I never agreed to the breakup."
"Mr. Greene, don't you know that a relationship requires both parties to agree? I said we're breaking up, and you kept saying no. Don't you know that's just being clingy and unreasonable?
"I'm not someone you can just treat however you want. What exactly do you take me for?" Noelle grew increasingly mad the more she spoke.
Her voice trembled, and her eyes gradually turned red.
Deep down, she wished to know what he thought of their relationship after she discovered his true identity and broke up with him.
Cedric was at a loss when he saw her eyes well up with tears. He hadn't meant to make her cry and couldn't bear to see her in tears.
Carefully, he wiped away the tears at the corner of her eyes. "Don't cry. I'm sorry. I promise I'll respect your feelings from now on."
From now on, he'd ask for her consent before kissing her.
Noelle hadn't intended to cry as it was embarrassing. But when he cupped her face, her tears broke free and went completely uncontrollable.
Cedric's heart sank at the sight of her tears. He bent over and coaxed her softly. "Don't cry. It's my fault."
Noelle sniffled and remained silent.
He met her gaze and settled beside her bed. "That wasn't it. There were other reasons."
"What reasons?"
"I can't say for now." He placed his hands on his thighs and looked down.
Noelle studied his face. "When you were in Aldoria, did you hide your identity from everyone or just me?"
"Everyone except for Alfred." Cedric had deliberately kept his identity a secret in Aldoria; he'd just wanted to see how Noelle was doing.
Hearing that made Noelle feel slightly better. Cedric turned his head slightly. "Why do you ask?"
Noelle stared at the ceiling. "If you'd only hidden it from me, I would've wondered if you had some ulterior motive toward me."
But since Cedric had hidden his identity from everyone, it meant his trip to Aldoria had been a secret. She could understand.
