When Cedric pulled her in for a kiss, Noelle was caught off guard. She tried to resist, but he pushed her away, only to pull her back in again. "I'm sorry… I thought I was dreaming."
Cedric hugged her and breathed heavily. Leaning in, he brushed against her ear and murmured, "Seeing you in my dream made me so happy… I'm so sorry."
Noelle's face burned. She quickly wriggled out of his embrace as her cheeks flushed. Then, she asked, "When did you come to the hospital last night? Isn't the project still unresolved?"
She remembered Cedric texting her and updating her on his day. Most of it was about work. One of the projects he'd been handling encountered some issues, and he'd been busy dealing with it.
Cedric's lips curled into a smirk. "I thought you never read my texts."
It seemed she'd been reading every single one. Otherwise, how would she know about the project? Noticing his gaze, Noelle turned away and muttered somewhat awkwardly, "I saw it by chance."
She hurriedly got up and returned to her hospital bed. Cedric rubbed his stiff neck as he sat up. His unshaven jaw was stubbled, and his morning voice was nasal from sleep. He looked more tired than usual.
Noelle pursed her lips. "How's your Grandma doing? I called you last night, but you didn't answer. So I ended up falling asleep while waiting."
"She's fine now. She's never been in great health, so you don't have to worry about it."
Then, he turned to her and asked, "What did Grandma tell you?"
Noelle tensed slightly and lowered her eyes. "Nothing much… It was just a simple talk."
Cedric fell silent for a moment before letting out a quiet laugh. "You don't have to hide it from me. Lincoln told me everything, and it's not hard to guess either."
Noelle's gaze flickered. After a moment, she looked up and said in a soft voice, "Your grandma offered me a lot of money, only if I'd leave you."
"Grandma has a lot of personal savings. She's always said she'd leave it to her future granddaughter-in-law. It isn't a big deal to give it to you in advance."
Noelle stared at him in shock. "Granddaughter-in-law?"
