No longer a pushover (Noelle and Cedric) novel Chapter 666

As doctors and nurses rushed in, Noelle was driven out of the intensive care unit. She stood outside, watching the medical team surround Anastasia. Her heart hung in anxiousness.

Lincoln furiously stormed over. "Ms. Liddell, don't you know Mrs. Greene Senior has been resuscitated multiple times? How could you say things that'd agitate her?"

Noelle pressed her lips together. "I didn't mean it that way. I was just…"

"I don't care what your intentions were. Let me make it clear to you that you're in big trouble now. If anything happens to Mrs. Greene Senior, you'll pay the price!"

Lincoln's tone was severe. After his warning, he walked to the side to make a call and report the situation.

Noelle sat on a nearby bench and hesitated for a moment. Then, she tried calling Cedric, but the call went unanswered.

The night was dark, and her heart sank. She pulled out her phone and wanted to text Cedric.

After hesitating for a long time, she finally typed. "I'm sorry. I think I messed up. I met your grandma, and she's now in emergency care. Please come to the hospital."

After sending the message, she fell into a long, anxious wait. She stayed outside the ICU and eventually dozed off on the bench.

When Cedric arrived, the first thing he saw was Noelle curled up on the cold bench, fast asleep. He walked over, took off his coat, and draped it over her shoulders. Then, he squatted in front of her and gently smoothed her hair.

Just then, Lincoln hurried over.

Cedric glanced at him and gestured at him to stay silent. Then, he got up, walked a few steps aside, and lowered his voice. "How's she doing?"

On the way here, he'd been informed that Anastasia's condition had been stabilized. He'd prevented the news from reaching the Greenes to avoid unnecessary commotion in the middle of the night.

Lincoln glanced at the soundly asleep Noelle and replied in a hushed tone, "Mrs. Greene Senior is stable now, but she was doing fine before she met Ms. Liddell. After that, she became extremely emotional and nearly had a critical episode."

Cedric turned to look at the elderly Anastasia lying in the ICU and frowned. "I thought we agreed to meet tomorrow?"

Finally, he turned and lay down on the couch in the room. It was cramped, but he made do since there were just a few hours until dawn.

Noelle stirred awake as the first light of morning seeped in. She vaguely remembered falling asleep on the bench. How had she ended up back in the ward?

As she propped herself up, she glanced over and saw Cedric curled up on the couch. He had nowhere to fit his long legs, and it made him look almost pitiful.

She watched him. It seemed he still came for her, after all. Noelle walked over and covered him with a blanket.

The next second, Cedric woke up. His hand shot out and grabbed her wrist as his dark, unreadable eyes locked onto hers.

Noelle blinked. "Cedric, you…"

Before she could finish, he got up and pressed his lips against hers with unrestrained force.
