When Noelle saw Xenia shamelessly flirting with Cedric, she immediately yanked her away. She growled, "Keep your filth to yourself. Your fiance isn't dead yet."
Xenia's shamelessness was unmatched.
"Noelle, you've misunderstood," Xenia protested, her eyes welling up with fake tears. "It really hurts that you'd think of me that way."
She sniffled pitifully. "I only said all that for your own good. After all, the Liddell family will still be your family if you marry Mr. Greene. We are your only support."
Noelle sneered. "Oh, please. Do you think you are reliable?"
She had underestimated Xenia's quick reflexes. Xenia immediately turned and walked over to Donovan, looking utterly heartbroken. "Donovan, Noelle really misunderstood me."
Donovan scoffed. "Serves you right for throwing yourself at someone who doesn't appreciate you."
Xenia stiffened. She hadn't expected Donovan to say that! Didn't he want to repair relations with Cedric and get him to let the Liddell family off the hook?
What would happen to her plans if Liddell Corporation actually went bankrupt? She hadn't even gotten her hands on any money yet!
Noelle chuckled. "Did you hear that, Xenia? Our dear brother has always been proud and arrogant. He'd never lower his head and admit he was wrong."
Donovan's gaze sharpened. "Noelle, I underestimated you, but that doesn't mean I'll admit defeat."
There was no way he would apologize. He had lived his whole life with his pride. To lower himself to a man he had once looked down on was worse than death.
Noelle nodded. "Great. I'd love to see how long a company that only knows how to play dirty tricks can survive."
