Noelle watched the change in Ruth's expression and announced, "She's lying."
The masked man noticed it, too. He yanked Ruth's hair and snarled, "Bullshit! I saw it with my own eyes! How dare you try to fool me?"
Ruth winced at the pain in her scalp and glared up at him. "How could you have possibly seen it? Who are you really?"
The masked man narrowed his eyes. "I just fucking know what happened! Just tell me who it was!"
Holding through the agonizing pain, Ruth snapped back, "There was no one in the backseat!"
"Still playing dumb? I see you're insistent on protecting Mr. Q. You two must be closer than I thought. If I end up enjoying Mr. Q's woman today, I'd say it's a win."
Ruth's face was drained of color. "You wouldn't dare! If you touch me, not only will you not get money, but you're also a dead man! Mr. Q gambled all his money away. He's broke, and I'm the only one who can pay you!"
"I can let you go, but tell me who was in the backseat. I need some leverage to keep you two from coming after me later."
Ruth stared back at him. "If you don't want to die, you'd better stop asking questions. Take your money and leave. Whatever you do after, kill Mr. Q or sleep with some woman, I don't care.
"But if you learn something you're not supposed to know, you're dead meat."
Ruth refused to talk no matter what. Noelle hadn't expected Ruth to be so protective of whoever it was. Who was that person, exactly?
Just then, Tilly spoke up. "Mr. Greene, her men are nearby. It won't be long before they find this place."
Noelle was surprised. "That's fast!"
"Well, the Greene family did pull some strings. Of course, they're fast," Tilly said, glancing at Cedric.
He explained, "Probably my mom arranged it. She doesn't know what's going on."
