Noelle glanced at the time. "It's still early. Why don't I treat you both to some coffee?"
There was a cafe right across from the building. After the three of them sat down outside, Noelle messaged Cedric: "Are you off work yet?"
She suddenly felt a little nervous. "Was that too obvious?"
Mia chuckled. "Cedric adores you. I bet he'll come running down the moment he sees your message."
Grace was looking across the street at the building. Suddenly, she hit her thigh excitedly. "He's coming! Speak of the devil!"
Noelle looked up. Sure enough, there was Cedric.
But he wasn't alone. Emma and Ruth were chasing after him.
Ruth was wearing sunglasses and a hat, clearly trying to avoid being recognized. She stopped Cedric and seemed to be saying something emotional.
Cedric stood in front of the car, expressionless. Noelle frowned. So the Merlocks had found out what Cedric had done. That would explain why they were so agitated.
And it also explained why Laura was on a shopping spree earlier. Without warning, Emma slapped Cedric across the face.
Upon seeing that, Noelle immediately rushed over. As she got closer, she heard Emma's yell.
"Cedric Greene, is that how you speak to your godmother? Apologize!"
Noelle's heart broke when she saw the mark on Cedric's cheek. She immediately stepped in front of him protectively.
She stared at Emma. "Mrs. Greene, just speak your mind. Why did you hit him?"
