"No evidence? Didn't you show the video to my daughter?" Ruth feared those videos would be leaked. How would she ever show her face in public again?
Noelle looked calmly at Ruth. "That's your daughter. Can what she said be considered evidence?"
Ruth was stunned. Noelle pressed on, "You don't have any evidence either, and you're just making baseless claims. And you even brought Mrs. Greene into this to cause Cedric trouble."
In truth, she had only threatened to film Ruth. But the latter had fainted before anything happened, and Noelle hadn't followed through.
Still, Ruth must have assumed the video had been recorded. The Merlocks were something else. They were always pointing fingers at others. But when the tables turned, they couldn't take it.
Noelle turned to Emma. "Mrs. Greene, would you rather trust an outsider than your own son? He knows what kind of people the Merlocks are, but he's been enduring everything because of you. How could you hit him?"
She glanced at Cedric's swollen cheeks, her heart aching. Noelle never could stand the Merlocks' underhanded tricks and manipulation. Did they really think they were the smartest people in the world?
Emma finally calmed down after looking at the slap mark on Cedric's face. Now that she thought about it, there really was no evidence.
She had come here just because her friend told her a few things. And she only acted out in rage after hearing about the supposed indecent video.
Ruth sensed things weren't going her way, so she grabbed Emma's arm. "I didn't lie! How could I possibly lie about something like this?"
Noelle huffed. "But you have no proof, do you?"
Ruth was flabbergasted. "I was kidnapped. How could I possibly have proof?"
Noelle answered coolly, "So basically, you're just making things up. You are good at painting a picture that suits your narrative."
Ruth was fuming. She had always been the one scheming against others. She never expected to find herself in the same position.
Emma gave her a cold look. "And wasn't all of this your doing?"
Ruth froze, panic rising within her. She absolutely couldn't afford to lose the Greene family's support now.
She immediately faked some tears. "You know what the Merlocks were going through back then. I had no choice. I only wanted to stop them from attending the auction. You know me. I would never have dared to kill someone."
"But none of this would've happened if you hadn't arranged that car accident." Emma didn't know who to believe.
Suddenly, her vision darkened, and she fainted.
"What's wrong? Are you okay?" Ruth looked at the unconscious Emma with a dark glint in her eyes. She would never go down so easily. The Greene family would never get rid of her.
