No longer a pushover (Noelle and Cedric) novel Chapter 849

Noelle had come to the Cantrell estate to confront Salena. After all, she knew Donovan wouldn't have dared to make a move on Mia without Salena's approval.

Salena had invested heavily in Donovan. So, she definitely had a stake in making sure his business didn't collapse.

But before Noelle could even step past the gate, Ivy intercepted her. Now, the two of them were seated in a nearby café.

Noelle looked at the woman across from her and said, "If you stopped me at the gate, then you must already know Mia's in trouble."

"I do." Ivy offered a faint, sorrowful smile. "You know what the Cantrell family is like. I left for Mia's sake, but I never imagined Salena would go this far—she just won't let her go."

Noelle studied her carefully. There was something fragile in Ivy's expression, and it reminded her so much of Xenia that it was almost unsettling.

If she hadn't known for sure that Ivy and Xenia weren't related, she would've believed they were from the same bloodline.

Noelle forced herself to push those thoughts aside. Saving Mia was currently the top priority. She asked, "What do you know?"

Ivy replied, "Ms. Liddell, right? I know you and Mia are close, but how can I be sure I can trust you?"

Noelle frowned, confused by the question. "I just want to get Mia out safely. She's my best friend."

Mia had helped her uncover so many dark truths about the Merlocks. Without Mia's help, she never would've found out that Sean had been hiding out at that car dealership. No matter what, she had to get Mia out of this mess in one piece.

After a pause, Ivy reached into her purse and pulled out a document. "This is what Salena gave me. If I sign it, Mia walks free."

Noelle scanned the contents—and instantly, fury surged in her chest. Salena was forcing Mia to give up her shares and hand over full financial control to her so-called future husband, Donovan.

"It'll only work if we both play our parts."

Noelle listened carefully. After Ivy explained her idea, she thought it was worth a try. If it failed, she'd go straight to Cedric for backup.

Once the plan was in place, Noelle got up to leave. She didn't want to spend a second longer with Ivy than she had to. Every time she looked at that face, which bore a resemblance to Xenia's, it triggered something deeply uncomfortable within her.

Noelle made her way straight to the gates of the Cantrell residence, raising her voice and demanding to see Salena. After a few minutes of commotion, a housekeeper finally led her inside.

The moment she stepped into the grand foyer, Salena appeared, her expression cool and indifferent. She asked, "Ms. Liddell, what brings you here today?"

Noelle's eyes sharpened. "Don't play dumb. Where's Mia?"
