No longer a pushover (Noelle and Cedric) novel Chapter 862

Mia looked over at Cedric, commenting, "Thanks to you, too, Cedric."

"Don't worry about it," Cedric calmly replied. "I'm your best friend's boyfriend, after all."

His tone was matter-of-fact, and Mia chuckled.

Meanwhile, Noelle kept her head down without saying a word as her face still burned red.

After breakfast, Mia checked the time. "I've got class this morning, so I'm heading to campus."

Noelle looked a little worried. "I think Mrs. Cantrell will realize soon enough that there's something wrong with the agreement."

Those people would definitely come looking for Mia again.

Mia gave a cold snort. "I won't let them get away with anything this time. I've hired an excellent bodyguard."

"Will one be enough? Shall we get you a few more?" Noelle was still uneasy.

"One is enough. I trust him," Mia mentioned with a wink.

Cedric's eyes narrowed slightly. "He's back?"

She nodded. "Yeah."

"If that's the case, one is surely enough," he affirmed with certainty.

Noelle felt like the two were speaking in code, but she didn't press further. It wasn't until Mia left that Noelle saw the tall figure standing just outside the door.

The man wore black clothes and a baseball cap. He was tall and strong, while his rolled-up sleeves revealed his muscular forearms and hinted at someone powerful.

Unfortunately, he stood in the shadows, and his face was hard to make out. Still, Noelle could tell that he was good-looking.

Closing the door, Cedric asked in a cool tone, "Have you looked enough?"

She curiously looked over and tried to peek through the door again, but he stopped her. "What's there to see?"

Cedric looked down and noticed her obedient demeanor. The lips he'd just kissed were glistening, and it made him want to kiss her again, harder this time.

He picked her up and carried her to the couch.

With Noelle sitting in his lap, Cedric looked down at her, elaborating, "I don't usually gossip about others, but I might consider it if you offer a little sweet incentive."

A little sweet incentive?

Noelle remembered him saying last night that he wanted candy. It was just a kiss at most, and she didn't really mind it.

She nodded. "Alright, as long as you tell me."

Satisfied with her answer, Cedric chucked lightly. "He was my high school classmate. His family was poor. After graduation, he went abroad to be a mercenary to make money for his grandma's medical bills."

"Why would such a cold, tough guy willingly become Mia's bodyguard?" There was definitely something going on there!

Cedric kept his gaze on her lips and said, "Mia used to try winning him over and slept with him."
