Mia was so frightened by Eugene's voice that she almost let out a scream, but a pair of large hands quickly covered her mouth.
Mia's eyes widened in shock. She could feel how big his hands were, almost covering half of her face.
She watched as his dark silhouette approached her. "Don't scream, or they might think that we're doing something weird."
She instantly picked up on what he was trying to say, including the hint of teasing in his voice.
Mia looked up at Eugene, but the lighting was too dim for her to see his face clearly. Even so, she was certain that he was laughing at her.
She tried to push him away out of anger, but she couldn't move him even an inch despite using all her strength.
Fuming, she stomped on his foot. But he did not even flinch a little.
He said, "You still haven't answered my question. Why are you sneaking around?"
"I was going to the bathroom."
"Why didn't you turn on the lights?"
Mia lowered her head and muttered, "I didn't want to wake you up, that's why. Some people just don't appreciate the consideration of others, huh?"
Eugene released her, stepped forward, and opened the door for her. He also turned on the lights while he was at it.
Mia was expecting to be blinded by the lights suddenly turning on, but to her surprise, Eugene had raised his hand to shield her eyes, blocking out most of the light until she adjusted to the brightness.
She lowered her gaze and avoided looking at his face.
She was afraid that she would give away her thoughts if she had looked at him.
She went into the bathroom with her head down, while Eugene casually leaned against the wall to wait for her outside.
Sporadic sounds of water could soon be heard coming from the bathroom.
Eugene tilted his head back to stare at the ceiling. He could not help but think about the legs he had seen earlier that day. His usually calm attitude had been replaced with restlessness.
It was eating at him.
He then glanced down at his foot that she had stomped on and let out a quiet chuckle.
The lady who used to be so soft to the point of being helpless could be surprisingly stubborn when she wanted to be.
