Jeremy, however, just ignored the Liddells.
Donovan noticed Jeremy's attitude toward him and spoke up angrily. "Mr. Sulton, you're the lawyer for my family as well. What kind of attitude is this?"
Jeremy raised an eyebrow and replied, "Allow me to clarify. I was hired by Ms. Liddell to be her lawyer, not your family. Don't overestimate yourself."
Donovan was fuming. He had heard before that Jeremy did not have the best reputation as a lawyer, and now he realized that the rumors might be true.
He turned to Noelle and said, "Are you really going to let this idiot represent you in court? You're not even going to know how you lost."
Noelle looked at Donovan and replied, "That's none of your business."
She then turned to Jeremy and continued, "Let's go."
Jeremy glanced at the rest of the Liddells and then waved goodbye to Cedric with a hand gesture.
Cedric pursed his lips as he became even more annoyed.
He began to regret hinting at Noelle and looking for Jeremy to be her lawyer. He realized that maybe it would have been better to just let Liam handle it.
Just then, Xenia held onto her pregnant belly and spoke in a high-pitched voice. "Mr. Greene, that's just how Noelle is. Don't take it to heart."
With that, everyone turned their attention to her.
Cedric's expression remained cold. He did not even glance at Xenia and just walked away instead.
The atmosphere grew awkward in an instant.
Xenia quickly explained herself. "I just wanted to explain on Noelle's behalf so that Mr. Greene wouldn't misunderstand. I don't mean anything else."
Frank's gaze was laced with sarcasm. "Drop the act, Xenia. We were fooled by you because we trusted you. Do you really think that we're still blind to what you're trying to do?"
Donovan's tone turned icy. "Even if Cedric really was blind, he'd still never choose you. And even if he broke up with Noelle, it still wouldn't be your turn next."
Noelle being together with Cedric was a good thing for the Liddell family.
They could not let Xenia mess that up.
Xenia was unwilling to back down. "But Noelle had already cut ties with the Liddell family."
