No Renewal My Contract Husband (Nella and Alfred) novel Chapter 173

Chapter 173 Lunch

“Oh, I see…”

Regis let out a regretful sigh but didn’t press the issue.

“I can tell. You and Alfred have had quite a few conflicts because of that Mack girl, haven’t you?”

Nella paused for a moment, then shook her head. “No. Don’t worry about us.”

“Sigh. That kid. Everyone praises him for being smart and capable, but somehow, when it comes to that Mack girl, he just gets led around by the nose.”

As Regis spoke, there was clear irritation in his tone.

“Even an old man like me can tell Zoey’s tricks are pretty cheap. How come he can’t?”

Nella smiled faintly and didn’t respond.

Maybe it’s not that Alfred can’t see it. Maybe he just doesn’t want to.

When you care about someone, it comes naturally to overlook other things you consider unimportant.

And I’m counted as one of those “unimportant things.”

But I have no right to complain, so I can’t cry about it either.

They say the squeaky wheel gets the grease.

But the key is, someone has to actually care about the squeaky wheel.

“Nella, actually, Alfred is only good to Zoey because-”

“The car’s here.”

Before Regis could finish, Nella interrupted him.

She knew Regis was about to say something kind to smooth things over between her and Alfred.

But she didn’t think it was necessary.

No matter what kind of relationship Alfred and Zoey really had, it didn’t change the fact that this marriage was coming to an end.

She also had no interest in understanding the twists and turns of Alfred and Zoey’s history.

Regis sensed Nella’s reluctance and didn’t continue.

He just let out a long sigh, then shot a hard glare at Alfred, who had just rolled down the car window.

Alfred looked perplexed.

Nella helped Regis into Alfred’s car. The two of them sat in the back seat.

Chapter 173 Lunch

Alfred glanced at them through the rearview mirror and said in a low voice, “Nella, come sit in the front.

Nella frowned and refused. “It’s the same wherever I sit.”

“Are you treating me like a driver?”

Alfred’s eyes sharpened as he asked in a deep voice.

Nella said nothing. From the back seat, Regis barked loudly, “I told you to drive, so drive. You’re sitting in the driver’s seat. Of course, you’re the driver!”

“Grandpa.”

Alfred frowned in displeasure.

“If you don’t wanna do it, then go back. Nella can take me to eat at the hospital cafeteria just fine.” Regis added.

Hearing that, Alfred hurriedly pressed the button at his side and locked the doors.

“Got it.”

From a proud CEO to a scolded grandson in seconds, Alfred could only respond unwillingly as he started the car and slowly drove away from the hospital.

The car stopped in front of an upscale seafood restaurant.

After entering the private room, Nella heard Alfred say, “Grandpa, wait here for a bit. Nella and I will go order the food.”

All the seafood at this restaurant was flown in fresh every day from around the country and kept live in the ordering area.

Guests could pick what they wanted on the spot and have the chef cook it to their preferred style.

“I-”

Nella tried to refuse again, but Alfred grabbed her arm and pulled her out of the private room.
