No Renewal My Contract Husband (Nella and Alfred) novel Chapter 175

Chapter 175 A Meal with Meaning

“Alright.”

After the server in charge of taking the order left, Nella returned to the private room.

At that moment, Alfred was sitting beside Regis, quietly enduring another round of scolding

Seeing her come back, Regis immediately put away the look of pure disdain he’d had toward Alfred and switched to a warm, kind expression.

The change was so fast that even Alfred couldn’t help but be amazed.

“Nella, you’re done ordering?”

“Yes. I just picked a few dishes. I hope they suit your taste.”

Nella took the seat to Regis’s left.

Alfred’s gaze settled quietly on her, and he didn’t say a word.

Regis, on the other hand, looked pleased. “I’m sure I’ll love everything you order.”

As he spoke, he let out a few hearty laughs.

“The company’s about to go on break too, right?”

Regis suddenly asked Alfred.

Alfred nodded. “Yes. After the annual meeting in a couple of days, some of the employees from out of town will start heading home early for the holidays.”

As he spoke, Alfred glanced at Nella, his eyes lowering slightly, as if lost in thought.

The grandfather and grandson talked about work. Nella didn’t interrupt and just sat quietly to the side.

Before long, the dishes she’d ordered were brought out one by one.

“Please enjoy.”

After the server left, Regis looked at the full table of dishes, his eyes lighting up with delight.

“Wow, Nella, you really know my taste. These are all my favorites, and you even remembered my dietary restrictions.”

Regis was genuinely happy, his age-worn eyes full of warmth.

“Glad you like them.”

Both Regis and Nella were in good spirits.

Only Alfred sat there, looking at the colorful spread without much expression on his face.

Chapter 175 A Meal with Meaning

If anything, the look in his eyes dimmed a little more.

His gaze lingered quietly on Nella. He saw that she was focused entirely on talking with Regis, not sparing him any attention at all.

“Grandpa, seafood is good, but crab roe is high in cholesterol. Just have a little to taste,” Nella reminded him gently.

At the same time, she placed the prepared crab, shell already removed, onto the plate in front of Regis.

“Alright, alright. Whatever you say.”

Regis agreed happily. Even when Nella took away the crab roe he wanted, he didn’t get upset.

Alfred had to admit that, whether as a wife, junior, colleague, or friend, Nella made it easy for people to like

her.

She seemed to have a quiet pull that made others want to get close to her without realizing it.

His strongest impression of her had always been that she was steady at her core.

She was emotionally steady and didn’t lose her temper easily.

But lately…

Alfred didn’t dare think about it.

Lately, Nella’s temper hadn’t been great.

Of course, that was only toward him.

His gaze fell to the table full of dishes.

They looked perfect in color, aroma, and taste, but every single dish contained ingredients he disliked.

Onions, mushrooms, and garlic.

Before, Nella had always remembered his dislikes.

Whenever they went out to eat together, she’d never gotten it wrong.

But now…

Alfred closed his eyes briefly. In an instant, he lost his appetite.

He didn’t know whether Nella had deliberately ignored these things, or whether she’d truly forgotten about

him.
