Chapter 191 You’re Right
Alfred thought, Nella seems to have forgotten we aren’t divorced yet, that I’m still her husband.

I guess I’ve been too indulgent with her. Now, she’s even chatting so openly with her little lover right in front of me.
Nella didn’t notice Alfred’s mood at all. Instead, she was drawn to the message Wesley sent.
[You’re coming back to the country? When? I’ll pick you up at the airport.]
Wesley had gone out of his way to take care of her for two weeks in Glacieroth, and she’d been worrying about how to repay him.
[Before the New Year.
[I’ll send you the flight details then.
[You have to come pick me up.
[And you owe me dinner.]
Nella lowered her gaze and replied quickly, [I’ll definitely treat you to dinner.]
At the same time, she was thinking about what gift to buy for Wesley, something to thank him for all the trouble he’d gone through for her.
The next second, Alfred’s low voice cut in, breaking her train of thought.
“So damn annoying. What’s this guy’s problem?”
Hearing that, Nella turned to look at Alfred, meeting his impatient look, and said, “Sorry.”
She switched her phone to silent.
“Did I ask you to apologize?”
Nella realized it then. He was picking a fight.
It was like something felt wrong with him if she didn’t argue with him.
But she really couldn’t be bothered to fight.
“Then I won’t. Just pretend you didn’t hear it.”
She brushed it off casually, but that one sentence shut Alfred down.
In the end, he let out an angry laugh and gave up.
“Nella, you’re really something.”
Nella didn’t think he meant that as a compliment, and she didn’t respond, lowering her head again to keep messaging Wesley.

Chapter 191 You’re Right
The rest of the drive back to Keywood Estate passed without either of them saying a word.
Only Alfred sat there with a stiff face, stewing in silence, the pressure in the car suffocating.
Half an hour later, the car stopped inside the grounds of the Keywood Estate.
The moment the car came to a halt, Nella unbuckled her seat belt and got out.
She didn’t wait for Alfred and headed straight toward the main entrance.
She ran into a well-dressed woman wearing a dark green gown, with a short white mink cape over it.
When she saw Nella, her brows lifted slightly, her expression full of undisguised disdain.
“Oh, hey, Nella. You’re here at Keywood Estate for dinner again today, all by yourself?”
Nella ignored the sarcasm in her tone and gave a small nod. “Hi, Larissa.”

The elegant woman before her was none other than Regis’s second daughter and Alfred’s aunt, Larissa Ballard.
“If you ask me, there’s really no need for you to come. Every time you show up alone, so lonely, and Alfred isn’t even here. Don’t you find that embarrassing?”
Larissa crossed her arms. “Alfred has his own mind. Trying to curry favor with my dad won’t make Alfred settle down. Why bother? Don’t blame me for being blunt. I’m saying this for your own good. What’s the point of keeping a widow-style marriage like this? You might as well divorce early.”
Larissa’s words hit Nella right in the chest.
Similar things had been said before. Larissa had said them in the past too.
Back then, hearing them only made her feel humiliated and bitter.
But now, hearing the same words, Nella found them oddly pleasant.
Even with the barbs in Larissa’s tone, they didn’t sound nearly as harsh anymore.
She smiled at Larissa and nodded. “Yeah, Larissa. You’re right.”
