No Renewal My Contract Husband (Nella and Alfred) novel Chapter 211

Chapter 211 Saving the Dog

If his relationship was going down in flames, then nobody else got to be happy either.

Jasmine heard Alfred’s line and rolled her eyes so hard it was a miracle they didn’t get stuck.

“Nella’s husband?”

She scoffed. “Seriously?”

Just tossing out family titles like he belonged.

Did anyone even ask for your application?

You just appointed yourself?

But Nella didn’t register a single word. All she could see was Marshal, soaked and barely holding on.

Her eyes were red. Her whole face said one thing-she was breaking.

Alfred stepped into the sludge and lifted Marshal gently out of the water, like he was made of glass.

Marshal let out a muffled sound, the pain making his body twitch hard.

Alfred lowered his voice and spoke right next to his ear.

“You’re okay, buddy. I’ve got you. We’re getting out now.”

Mason covered his entire face with both hands.

That was the softest tone Alfred had ever used on anyone. He didn’t even treat Nella like that. What would she think if she saw it?

Not that she was watching. All she cared about was Marshal.

Alfred climbed back up, reeking of sewage, arms still locked around the dripping dog.

Marshal was soaked to the skin. Water poured off him and splashed against the pavement.

“Nella!”

Marshal moved, trying to bury himself in her arms.

But pain shot through his side, and he whimpered again, louder this time.

Nella quickly pulled off her coat and covered him with it. She leaned in close and whispered right to his

face.

“It’s okay. It’s over now. You’re gonna be fine. We’re going to the vet, okay?”

Alfred turned toward Mason, who was still standing there like this had nothing to do with him.

“Well? Get the damn car.”

Mason blinked like he didn’t hear him right.

Then he glanced at Alfred’s soaked pants and grimaced.

“You smell like hell.”

Alfred stared him down.

“I’ll buy you a new one tomorrow.”

He didn’t have the patience for this.

Mason raised a brow, smirked, then twirled the car keys in his hand and strolled toward the Maybach parked up the street.

They made it to Blessed Paw Clinic fast.

Rolf was the one waiting for them at the door.

“Fractured rib. Inhaled a lot of toxic crap down there. You’re lucky you brought him in when you did. Any later, and he’d be in serious trouble.”

He ran his hand gently over Marshal’s soaked fur as he talked.

“Poor guy. You’ve had a hell of a day.”

Marshal lay limp on the exam table. When he heard Rolf’s tone, he tucked his head against the vet’s waist and gave a quiet whine.

Nella stood beside the table. She finally let out the breath she’d been holding.

She stroked Marshal’s head and smiled weakly at Rolf. “Thank you.”

Alfred didn’t walk into the room.

But the door stayed open, and from where he stood, he could see the whole scene like he was right there.

Of course he recognized the guy. It was the same dude from last time, the one chatting with Nella outside the hospital with way too much cologne.

So he was Marshal’s vet?

Was that all they talked about that day? Just the dog?

Even if it was, the way she smiled at him now made something crawl up Alfred’s chest.

Mason’s voice came in smooth, smug, and soaked in amusement.

“Quick question. Now that you know Marshal’s her dog, what’s it feel like?”

Alfred turned his head and glared at him with a look that could’ve frozen steel. He said nothing.
