Chapter 217 Nella’s Place
Nella opened the door, and Alfred walked in with Marshal cradled in his arms.

The place was done up in a clean, modern style with soft cream walls that made it feel calm the second your stepped in.
There was a plush ivory dog bed in the living room, but Alfred didn’t lay Marshal down.
Nella came back with a bowl of warm water and spotted him still standing there.
“Thanks again for today,” she said. “Go ahead and set Marshal in his bed. I’ll get him cleaned up.”
Marshal was hurt, so a bath wasn’t an option. Nella had mixed up a gentle cleansing oil to wipe him down instead.
“I’ll just hold him while you do it. That bed’s too cramped, and moving him might hurt.”
She glanced over at the bed she’d picked out for Marshal.
He was still pretty small, so she’d bought a compact one.
It was super deep, just the way he liked it. He loved to burrow in.
If they put him down now, they’d have to shift him to get access. That’d just cause him more pain.
Alfred had a point.
“Alright. I appreciate it.”
She gave a small nod.
“Your brother is mine too. You don’t need to thank me.”
Alfred lowered his gaze and smiled like he meant every word.
Seriously?
What a calculating bastard.
Mason nearly rolled his eyes.
He’d just figured out how damn manipulative Alfred actually was.
The guy clearly knew how much Marshal meant to Nella. Now he was pulling the whole “puppet-master” routine by clinging to her dog.
Mason strolled over to Jasmine and leaned in close.
“Babe, maybe you should get a dog too.”
Jasmine narrowed her eyes, instantly catching on to what he was thinking, and gave him a frosty glare.

Chapter 217 Nella’s Place
“No.”
She saw right through Alfred’s dirty little play.
finished
No wonder he wouldn’t let go of Marshal for even a second. He knew once that dog left his arms, his sorry ass would be kicked to the curb.
Alfred didn’t care what they were whispering about.
He sat down on the couch with Marshal still in his arms.
The
pup
had woken up. His big round eyes just stared up at Alfred like he was the center of the universe.
Nella knelt in front of them and gently started wiping the dirt off Marshal with the damp towel.
She couldn’t help noticing the way Marshal was gazing up at Alfred.
And out of nowhere, the dumbest mental image popped into her head.
Marshal looked up at him and said with heartfelt sincerity, “My only regret is that I can’t give you a child.”
Oh my god.
She snapped herself out of it.
What the hell was that?
Clearly, she’d been watching way too many pet reels lately.
The quiet little scene between them made the rest of the room fall totally silent.
From Mason’s angle, Alfred looked like he was holding a newborn baby. The usual edge in his eyes had softened into something weirdly warm.
“Babe, for real. If he hadn’t gotten tangled up with that damn Zoey, that could’ve been his actual kid right there.”
Mason muttered with a sigh, still trying to figure out what had gone so wrong in Alfred’s head back then.
Jasmine gave him a long look and said coolly,
“Maybe guys like you just think sticking to one wife your whole life is boring. You should’ve been born a hundred years ago. You’d have loved the harem lifestyle.”
