Nella didn’t reply. She simply deleted Zoey’s WhatsApp contact.

Even so, she couldn’t avoid Zoey.

Zoey showed up after Nella finished seeing her last patient of the day.

Nella was organizing patient files when she heard footsteps.

She looked up and saw Zoey standing there. Her brow creased slightly.

“Do you need something?” she asked casually, closing the file.

Zoey stared at her coldly and slowly shut the exam room door.

She dropped her bag onto the desk and let out a sharp laugh.

“Nella, you must be feeling pretty pleased with yourself right now, huh?”

Nella looked confused. “About what?”

A fierce look flashed across Zoey’s face. “Alfred won’t talk to me anymore. Are you happy now?”

Zoey was clearly emotional, like she might rush at Nella any second.

“If he’s not talking to you,” Nella said calmly, “you should talk to him. Not me.”

Her reaction stayed calm.

“What are you so proud of?” Zoey snapped. “If you hadn’t acted all kind and understanding in front of Alfred, he wouldn’t have been fooled by you!”

Her finger jabbed closer, and she shouted louder.

“You can’t keep acting forever. I’ll make Alfred see who you really are!”

Nella nodded. “Alright. Go ahead. I’m off work now, so I won’t be entertaining you.”

She packed up the files, stood, and walked toward the door.

But Zoey refused to let her pass. She blocked the doorway, glaring at her.

“Nella, it’s because of your tricks that Alfred treated me so cruelly,” Zoey shouted.

The memory of last night’s gala flashed through her mind. Alfred had told her to leave with a cold, ruthless look, not caring how many people were watching. The humiliation burned. Her hatred toward Nella only grew stronger.
