It happened when she blocked Zoey’s bag. The metal clasp on the bag smashed into the bone of her little finger.
Nella looked at him coldly. The chill in her eyes spread little by little. Alfred instinctively let go of her hand.
Still, he asked in a hoarse voice, “Was it Zoey?”
He stared at Nella’s expressionless face.
Nella paused while unlocking her phone.
So Zoey really hadn’t missed the chance to complain first.
A mocking smile tugged at Nella’s lips. She looked up at him and said, “Yes. It was her. She came to warn me. She told me to hurry up and divorce you and make room for her.”
The cold in her eyes deepened.
“Alfred, I’m very busy. I have a lot to do. I don’t have the time or energy to deal with Zoey again and again. Please keep her under control.”
Alfred panicked and hurried to explain, “I didn’t know she went to see you.”
When he saw how cold Nella looked, he became even more flustered. He didn’t know how to defend himself anymore.
All he could do was look at her and repeat, “I’ve already stopped contacting her. I really didn’t know she would come to you.”
He forced an awkward, bitter smile. “Don’t look at me like that, please.”
Nella lowered her eyes. After two seconds, she looked up again and said calmly, “But the reason she keeps coming to provoke me is you. If you hadn’t indulged her, she wouldn’t dare to do this.”
That single sentence left Alfred completely speechless.
He lost even the courage to say one more word in his defense.
“I’m sorry.”
In the end, those were the only three words he could say.

Nella didn’t respond. She simply held Marshal and opened the door, stepping inside.
Mack Residence.
“You cops
have nothing better to do, do you? Coming here over a worthless dog?”

Eileen shouted, pointing at the officers standing at her door. “Is this really how you waste taxpayers’ money?”
“Mrs. Mack,” one officer said calmly, “you are suspected of deliberately damaging someone else’s property. The amount involved meets the standard for a criminal case. We are summoning you according to the law. If you disagree with our actions, you may file a complaint through the public service hotline. For now, please come with us.”
How could Eileen accept that? Her daughter had just spent a night in detention because of Nella. And now the police were here because of an animal?
It was a complete joke.
“Get out! Get out right now!” Eileen yelled. “If you don’t leave, I’ll sue you for breaking into my home!”
Her attitude made the officers frown in disapproval.
The video Nella provided-showing Eileen abusing an animal-had already left a bad impression on them.
Now, seeing her act this way, their disgust only grew stronger.
“Mrs. Mack,” the lead officer said sharply, “I’ll say this one more time. We are lawfully summoning you for questioning. If you refuse to cooperate, we will take compulsory
measures.”
“Are you threatening me?”
Eileen grabbed the ashtray beside her and threw it straight at the officer’s face.
The officers dodged quickly.
The lead officer stopped being polite. “Mrs. Mack, you are now suspected of assaulting an officer and obstructing official duties. Take her away.”
The moment he spoke, the officers moved in. Before Eileen could start screaming and throw a fit, they pinned her down. The handcuffs snapped shut in an instant.
