She ran into an elderly professor couple from the same neighborhood, out for their morning walk.
More than ten years ago, this community had housing set aside by Apex Medical University for its professors.
Almost everyone living here was a faculty member.
Many of the older professors had once worked with Nella’s parents or even her grandparents.
Nella had lived here for over ten years. Most of the professors knew her well.
She had only brought Marshal home yesterday, but the professors already recognized him.
The neighborhood was close to Apex Medical University. In recent years,
her parents had spent most of their time at the research institute working on new projects and rarely came home.
When Caleb arranged for her to teach as a substitute at Apex Medical University, she had already decided to bring Marshal back here to live with her.
“Good morning,” she said.
She walked Marshal to Clifford’s parking spot and drove out the car that had been sitting unused for a long time.
First stop-Valcrest, to pick up the custom fountain pen.
“Ms. Milo, this is your pen,” the store manager said, handing her a beautifully wrapped luxury
box.
“Thank you.”
She didn’t open it. She put it into her bag and then spent the rest of the morning walking around the mall with Marshal.
After buying him a pile of toys and food, she noticed it was already noon.
Just then, she received a message from Wesley.
“I’m about to have my coronation ceremony. Don’t forget to pick him up at the airport.”
When Nella saw the word “coronation,” she couldn’t tell whether Wesley had mistyped

She replied, “I will respectfully welcome His Majesty.”
After sending it, she paused.

She suddenly realized that in three years of marriage to Alfred, she had never joked with him. so freely.
Because she loved him, she had placed him on a shining pedestal in her heart. He felt distant and untouchable.
Without noticing, she lowered herself, trying to please him, match him, and put him first in everything. She almost forgot who she used to be.
Before, she never understood why liking someone and being good to them was mocked as being a simp.
What was wrong with liking someone?
If you liked someone, shouldn’t you treat them well?
It wasn’t until she nearly died in that avalanche that she finally understood.
There was nothing wrong with loving someone.
There was nothing wrong with being good to someone.
The mistake was this-in a relationship that should have been equal, she had put herself at the very bottom.
She loved him but forgot to love herself.
Thinking about it now, Nella felt a quiet sense of sadness.
Those three years, she really had been a simp.
She reached out and gently patted Marshal, who was chewing on a small ball inside his stroller, and continued walking through the mall.
During that time, she received a call from the court.
Eileen had requested mediation over the matter involving Marshal. Nella rejected it without hesitation.
“I don’t accept mediation. The court can rule however it sees fit.”

In Apex, even small cases usually took days just to schedule. Yet her case against Eileen had been arranged so quickly.
It seemed her title as “Mrs. Keywood” was doing the work.
She just didn’t know how Alfred planned to help his savior’s mother escape punishment this time.
