On the other side, Nella had only waited a few minutes in the hotel lobby when Wesley came downstairs.

“Not resting a bit longer?” she asked.

“I rested enough on the plane,” Wesley said. “I’m hungry now. Let’s eat first.”

As he spoke, he casually took over the stroller with Marshal inside.

Nella was still holding Sunny, gently squeezing the kitten’s soft paw and having a great time.

Wesley watched her, a faint smile appearing in his eyes.

“The restaurant I booked isn’t far,” he said. “We can walk there.”

“Sure. I’ll follow your lead,” Nella replied.

Warm streetlights spread a soft yellow glow over the snow.

A man and a woman, a cat and a dog, walked together under the lights, chatting and laughing. The scene looked calm, warm, and almost dreamlike.

“Nella?”

Not far away, outside a law office, Zoey had just finished meeting her lawyer. She recognized Nella at once.

“What is she doing here?” Zoey muttered.

Her eyes then shifted to the tall, handsome man beside Nella. He wore silver-rimmed glasses and looked relaxed as he talked with her.

Seeing the two of them laughing together, Zoey curled her lips into a cold smile.

She took out her phone and snapped several photos from different angles.

“This way, please,” the server said.

After they sat down, Nella handed Wesley a gift box she had prepared earlier.

Wesley raised his eyebrows in surprise. “A gift too?”

Nella clasped her hands together jokingly. “You saved my life. This is the least I could do.”

Wesley smiled, took the box, and set it beside him.

Nella’s smile froze for a second.

When she saw the grin on Wesley’s face, she knew he was joking. She laughed too.

“What? Did I scare you just now?”

Wesley lifted his brows, his tone half-flattering.

“Being chosen by Dr. Milo would be my honor.”

“Alright,” Nella said seriously. “Once I get a divorce, you will have to give me a chance.”

Her tone was so earnest that Wesley was stunned.

His mouth fell slightly open. He was startled.

“You’re serious?”

Nella burst out laughing at his reaction.

“See? I scared you again.”

Wesley paused, then shook his head with a helpless smile.

Outside the law office-

“Ms. Mack, I’ll be leaving now. Contact me if you need anything,” the lawyer said.

Zoey replied absentmindedly. Her fingers never stopped tapping the screen.

The lawyer looked at her excited expression and shook his head.

Her mother was still in detention, and the other side refused to settle. He couldn’t understand what she was so happy about.

With that thought, he picked up his briefcase and walked away.

Their table was by the window. The moment Zoey looked inside, she saw them.
