No Renewal My Contract Husband (Nella and Alfred) novel Chapter 30

Chapter 30 Maybe He’s Sick

99

Finished

Nella had watched their messy, chaotic love finally reach the finish line. She really thought Jasmine had finally found a place to belong. Who could have guessed things would end like that?

Back then, Mason had clung to the relationship even harder than Jasmine, but he was the first

to mess up.

When Jasmine asked for a divorce, the Harts were probably the happiest of all. They’d always looked down on her and tried every trick to push Mason toward the daughter of the Sullivans.

Nella sat across from Jasmine. “Are you really going through with the divorce?”

Jasmine nodded and let out a bitter laugh. “You know me. I almost gave up back then. If he hadn’t kept pushing…”

Nella did know about that.

Jasmine grew up in an orphanage. She always looked cheerful, but underneath, she was painfully insecure. A family like the Harts was never somewhere she truly wanted to belong.

When the Harts first approached her, Jasmine was ready to let Mason go.

It was only his persistence that convinced her to give their love one more chance.

She married into the Harts for him. If even he wasn’t the reason enough to keep going, then the whole marriage felt meaningless.

Thinking about that, Nella couldn’t help but compare it to her own marriage with Alfred.

Hers was even worse-no feelings at all, just a contract keeping it together.

The one good thing? When it ended, it would be clean, no strings attached.

“Hmm. Whatever you choose, I’ve got your back,” Nella said.

Jasmine smiled and then remembered something. “I saw Alfred earlier. Was he looking for you?”

Nella thought about his odd behavior today and didn’t want to deal with him. She waved it off. “Maybe he’s sick. I didn’t ask.”

Still, with how strange he’d acted, he probably wasn’t doing well.

She didn’t stay to talk with Jasmine any longer.

She used a patient as an excuse to avoid Alfred, but she was really swamped.

After they parted ways, she headed back to her office.

Before she realized it, the afternoon had slipped by at work.

By the time she finished her last surgery, it was almost quitting time.

She had just sat down with some glucose when her phone buzzed.

It was a text from Wesley, reminding her to see a therapist.

She couldn’t help but smile a little.

They’d only known each other for two weeks, but Wesley nagged like a mother.

She typed back, “On my way now.”

Nella wasn’t brushing him off. Back when she’d been in the hospital, she’d realized her mental state wasn’t great.

She wasn’t the type to mope over Alfred’s cold shoulder until she made herself sick. She’d already booked a therapy session for today.

Her appointment was in 30 minutes.”

She did the math-it was the perfect time to leave.

She picked up her bag and stepped out of the office.

She’d booked a specialist.

As she opened the door, a small figure peeked out from behind the computer. Hearing the sound, the person looked up.

It was a very young, round face with black-rimmed glasses.

When their eyes met, surprise flashed across both of them. She clearly recognized Nella, and Nella recognized her as well.
