No Renewal My Contract Husband (Nella and Alfred) novel Chapter 309

Chapter 309 Close Door

She glanced at it once, then backed out.

“Sorry. I didn’t see it.”

:

Her reply was not sincere. Even the “sorry” sounded empty.

But Alfred looked even more shaken. The red at the corners of his eyes deepened.

He had only seen it for a second, but it was enough. She had muted him.

So, she hadn’t blocked him. She hadn’t deleted him either. When he was still holding on to a tiny hope-thinking that if he fixed everything, there might still be a chance. She had quietly put him on mute.

She had been polite. She had done everything neatly. Under that calm, she still cut him to pieces.

Alfred looked at her and smiled.

But the smile looked worse than crying.

With his reddened eyes, he looked broken enough to make people pity him.

Nella didn’t. Her heart was harder than stone.

She just looked at him, face blank, and said, “Happy birthday.”

Her words were clear and stiff, like she was checking off a task.

“You promised you’d come celebrate my birthday with me.”

Alfred wouldn’t give up. It felt more like he was hurting himself.

“You promised me. How could you forget?”

He stared at her with red eyes and kept repeating, “You promised me.”

Nella’s expression didn’t change. She didn’t even bother to fake an apology.

She looked at him and said, “Yes. I promised. So what?”

Alfred opened his mouth. He wanted to ask her why she had stood him up if she had promised to meet him.

Before he could speak, Nella cut in first.

“Does a promise always have to be kept?”

A clear trace of mockery curved at the corner of her lips.

“Even you

don’t always keep your promises. So why must I?”

Alfred finally understood what she meant. His face went pale.

He had forgotten what he had done all those years. He talked about contracts, but how many times had he really honored them?

Alfred thought giving her an unlimited black card and sending gifts on holidays meant he had done his duty.

He never realized that, aside from money, he had given her nothing.

“I kept what I had to keep. As for promises outside the contract, I’ll keep them if I want to. If I don’t feel like it, I won’t,” Nella said flatly. “Mr. Keywood, don’t force it.”

After that, she pushed past him and went inside.

The door shut right in front of Alfred.

The dull thud hit his chest hard.

Nella went home and put Alfred out of her mind.

She wiped Marshal’s paws, gave him his medicine, and then went to take a shower.

Aurora International Hotel.

“You went to Craystan again?”

A woman’s voice came through the phone from Glacieroth, sharp with anger.

“Yes,” Wesley answered.

Wrapped in a loose black robe, he stood on the balcony.

The cold winter night of Apex kept him wide awake.

He gently swirled the red wine in his hand. His movements looked lazy, but his mood was heavy.

There was a brief silence on the other end.
