No Renewal My Contract Husband (Nella and Alfred) novel Chapter 310

Chapter 310 Waiting at the Door

“Depends,” Wesley said.

The woman on the other end went quiet again.

After a while, she spoke, “Stay away from the Keywoods.”

“Got it.”

“Get some good rest.”

Before hanging up, the woman seemed to mutter under her breath. “Why do you keep running off to Craystan for no reason?”

Wesley heard it. He froze for a moment, then slowly smiled.

Of course there was a reason; he wanted to see someone important.

He went back into the room.

Sunny was lying on the bed with her belly up. Wesley scooped her into his arms, kissed the top of her head, and fell into thought again.

“Hey, sweetheart,” he said softly. “Do you want a sister-in-law?”

Sunny seemed to understand. She stepped on Wesley’s stomach and let out a cheerful “meow,” as if agreeing.

On the other side.

Nella saved and printed her lesson plans, shut down the computer, and walked out of the study.

She was about to head to bed when her phone rang.

It was Rosemary Kain, a professor who lived across the hall on the same floor.

Nella answered, “Professor Kain, it’s pretty late. Is something wrong?”

“Nella,” Professor Kain said nervously, “there’s someone sitting outside your door. He’s not some kind of creepy stalker, is he? Should I call building security to chase him away?”

A stalker?

Nella walked to the door and checked the security screen.

Alfred?

Why is he still here?

“Nella, what do you think?” Rosemary continued. “Should I wake Byron up and have him come help you chase the man off?”

Byron Green was Rosemary’s husband and a retired professor from Apex Medical University.

Not wanting to worry her, Nella replied quickly, “No, thank you, Professor Kain. I know him. I’ll handle it. Please go back to sleep.”

“Are you sure you don’t need help?” Professor Kain asked, still uneasy.

“I’m sure,” Nella said firmly.

After ending the call, Nella opened the door.

Alfred was sitting against the wall with his head lowered. He looked like he had fallen asleep.

Nella frowned and called out, “Alfred.”

As if he heard her, Alfred slowly lifted his head.

The white hallway light fell on his face, making him look pale—almost frighteningly so.

“Nella…” he murmured.

He pushed himself up using the wall but suddenly stumbled.

Nella stepped aside at once to avoid being hit.

“You should go home,” she said flatly. “It’s the middle of the night. You scared the elderly professor across the hall.”

Alfred didn’t seem to hear her. He leaned against the wall, brows tightly knit, looking very uncomfortable.

“Alfred!”

“Alfred?”

When he still didn’t respond, Nella impatiently reached out and pushed him.

Her palm touched his skin. It was burning.

She frowned even deeper. “You have a fever?”

Nella found this annoying.

Alfred always brought trouble to her.

“You’re burning up,” she said louder.

He slowly opened his heavy eyelid.

The fever had reddened his eyes. Combined with his weak and hurt expression, he looked pitiful.

“I’ll say a few things,” he said hoarsely. “Then I’ll leave.”

Nella’s irritation grew.

“About taking down the video of Marshal,” Alfred said, his voice rough from the fever. “I didn’t do it to help Zoey. And I wasn’t trying to protect the Macks.”
