Alfred saw every bit of it.

She still clung to one last shred of hope.

It had been over a decade since that day. There hadn’t been any cameras in that place, and even if there were, the footage wouldn’t exist anymore.

If Alfred found out the truth about who really saved him back then, both she and her family would be finished.

So she couldn’t admit it. No matter what.

“You better pray I don’t find anything,” he said coldly, then motioned toward the door. “Now get

out.”

Zoey tried the same desperate trick again. She lunged for his leg. He kicked her off without
