No Renewal My Contract Husband (Nella and Alfred) novel Chapter 50

Chapter 50 A Different Angle

:

Just then, there was a sound from the keypad lock.

Nella looked up to see Alfred pushing the door open and stepping inside.

Their eyes met.

By this time, Nella had already changed out of the shirt and slacks she’d worn at the hospital and into a beige knit two-piece set.

Her long hair, now dry, was loosely gathered at the back of her head and secured with a hairpin.

A few stray strands fell naturally along her cheeks, giving her a relaxed, effortless look with a quiet, intellectual softness to it.

This was the scene Alfred walked into.

The last light of the setting sun streamed through the window, falling across the side of Nella’s face and casting a soft glow around her.

She seemed almost luminous, like someone who had stepped out of a painting and into his line of sight.

This was the first time Alfred had ever looked at Nella so carefully.

He had always known she was beautiful. Even with the constant presence of celebrity spokesmodels coming in and out of Keywood Group, each one striking in her own way, none of them had ever truly caught his attention.

Compared to Nella, they all seemed to be missing something he couldn’t quite name.

When Nella looked back at him, Alfred’s heart skipped a beat.

The feeling of being caught staring made him uneasy, and a hint of awkwardness crept onto his face.

“Ahem…”

He covered his mouth and cleared his throat.

“I’ve booked a restaurant. Let’s eat out for dinner.”

Nella nodded, picked up the camel-colored wool coat hanging on the rack, and slipped it on. “Okay. Let’s go.”

The elevator took them straight down to the garage. Nella was just about to open the rear door when Alfred reached out first and opened the passenger-side door.

Noticing her movement, Alfred’s expression tightened slightly.

His lips pressed together before he said, “We don’t need a driver today. I’ll drive.”

Nella nodded. It would’ve been awkward to treat Alfred like a chauffeur anyway, so she walked around to the passenger seat and got in.

After she closed the door, Alfred took the driver’s seat.

Nella glanced at him without thinking.

Alfred was undeniably good-looking. Whether head-on or in profile, there wasn’t a single flaw to pick apart.

Even a brief look was pleasing to the eye.

His forearms were lean and strong, the lines clean and defined.

The hand resting on the steering wheel had long, well-shaped fingers-hands like a pianist’s, elegant and beautiful.

It was oddly amusing. They had been married for nearly three years, yet this was the first time she had ever sat in Alfred’s passenger seat.

It was also the first time she had taken the time to appreciate Alfred’s “looks” from this angle.

Without drawing attention to herself, Nella withdrew her gaze and turned to look out the window at the steady flow of traffic outside.

Inside the car, only the voice of the radio host filled the silence, breaking the awkward quiet.

Alfred glanced at her sideways, trying to start a conversation.

“I booked a Belcour restaurant. Is that okay for you?”

At that, Nella pulled her gaze back from the window and answered casually, “That’s fine. I’m not picky.”

Just then, her phone chimed.

She had been wondering how to deal with the awkwardness of being alone with Alfred, and this message felt like a lifeline.

She let out a quiet sigh of relief.

Taking out her phone and opening the message, she saw it was another check-in from Wesley.

“Have you seen a doctor? What did they say?”
