Chapter 63 I’ll Tell Alfred
“Nella, how dare you talk to me like this! I’ll tell Alfred, you’ll see.”
“Go ahead. I’ll be waiting for your good news.”
“You-”
Before Zoey could finish, Nella had already hung up.
Finished
She hadn’t just said that to mess with Zoey-she genuinely hoped Zoey would go complain to Alfred.
If only Alfred would call off their agreement two months ahead of schedule, she wouldn’t have to keep dealing with him.
Back at the Mack Residence, Zoey was left staring at her phone, furious and stunned.
Nella had never challenged her like this before.
Zoey knew that if Nella ever dared speak to her that way, Alfred would be furious.
That was why she kept dragging Alfred away from Nella, again and again, and Nella never dared say a word.
Tonight, Nella was acting out of character. Zoey figured it must have been because Alfred didn’t answer her call, which had given Nella the wrong idea that he liked her.
Nella, how dare you do this to me?
In a rage, Zoey threw her phone at the wall.
The screen shattered instantly.
Nella kept waiting for Alfred to come question her about it so she could bring up ending the contract marriage early.
But all the way until the next day, Alfred never brought up her
argument with Zoey.
When Nella finished getting ready and stepped out of her room, Alfred was in the kitchen, setting breakfast out on the table.
“You’re up. Come eat breakfast.”
Alfred called to her as he set down two cups of warm milk.

Chapter 63 III Tell Alfred
His face was as cold and unreadable as ever, with not a trace of anger.
Did Zoey really not tell him?
That doesn’t seem like Zoey at all.
Nella sat at the table, still dazed, and picked at her breakfast, her mind elsewhere.
“Last night, Zoey said you cursed her out.”
Alfred spoke up, sounding casual.
No questioning, no anger-he sounded like he was making small talk.
Nella paused with her food.

So Zoey did complain to him, just as I expected. Well, I handed her the opportunity, there’s no way she’d
waste it.
But…
Why isn’t Alfred mad?
Or is this just the calm before the storm?
Nella glanced up, studying him carefully.
“Yeah, I did.”
She took a bite of her sandwich and admitted it directly.
She watched him warily. Her posture was defensive, waiting for Alfred to snap at her.
But Alfred only nodded.
He acted as if it was no big deal.
He even gave a rare little smile.
“That’s new. I’ve never seen you lose your temper before.”
Nella hesitated but said nothing.
She went back to eating, while Alfred actually kept talking. For once, he was talkative.
“Why did you curse her out?”

Alfred’s tone was still calm and casual as he asked.
Nella paused, then answered simply, “She was bothering me.”

She didn’t try to defend herself, or even bother making up a better excuse.
It was as if she didn’t care whether Alfred blamed her or not.
Alfred remembered what Zoey had said on the phone.
She’d complained that Nella had never cursed her out before, but tonight, Nella had humiliated her with harsh words. She insisted it was because Nella thought she could get away with it now that Alfred liked her.
