Chapter 92 Obedient
:
Alfred frowned at Zoey, his lips so pale that they’d lost all color.
Afraid she’d really angered Alfred, Zoey didn’t insist any further.
She only looked at Nella and said, “Nella, please take good care of Alfred.”
Before Nella could answer, the elevator doors closed right on time.
Zoey stood outside. The pitiful look in her eyes instantly turned vicious.
“Nella …
you bitch!”
Nella stood quietly inside the elevator. She had no interest in how Alfred got hurt.
Suddenly, a large body leaned toward her.
Nella instinctively reached out to steady him.

She turned her head and saw Alfred struggling to keep his eyes open, looking like he might pass out at any moment.
“I feel kind of lightheaded,” Alfred murmured against her, his voice weak.
Because they were so close, the heat of his breath brushed against Nella’s ear.
Out of basic human decency, Nella tightened her grip on him.
But Alfred was tall, and he kept swaying. With just one arm, there was no way Nella could hold him up.
The elevator reached the basement level, and she helped Alfred out.
Suddenly, her shoulder sank as Alfred leaned his full weight onto her.
“Alfred.”
She clenched her teeth and called his name, holding back her irritation.
“Sorry. My legs went weak. I couldn’t keep my balance.”
This time, Alfred was almost completely leaning on her, even closer to her ear.
The heat from his fever-hot breath made the back of her ears flush faintly red.

Chapter 92 Obedient
Alfred had a model’s build.
Finished
He was six-foot-three, about 165 pounds. With that weight pressing on Nella, one arm wasn’t enough to support him.
With no other choice, she slid both arms under his and wrapped them around his back, barely managing to keep him upright.
From an outsider’s perspective, it looked more like the two of them were hugging.
Alfred closed his eyes, resting his chin on Nella’s shoulder, the corner of his mouth lifting almost imperceptibly.
The parking spot wasn’t far from the elevator. They reached it in just a few steps.
Nella let out a long breath, supporting Alfred with one hand while opening the car door with the other.
“Get in first.”
Alfred didn’t respond, as if he’d lost consciousness.
Nella’s heart sank. “Alfred?”
She called again, her voice noticeably more urgent.
“Mm?”
He slowly lifted his eyelids, barely waking from his daze.
“Get in the car. The wound’s infected and inflamed. Your fever’s really high. We can’t delay anymore.”
Nella frowned and urged him on.
“Okay.”
Alfred obediently got into the car.
Without his usual sharp, intimidating presence, he looked like a well-behaved child.
Nella told him what to do, and he did it.
Probably because he was too weak, he slumped against the seat the moment he sat down and
went still.
As soon as Nella started the car, the seatbelt warning beeped.

She glanced sideways and saw Alfred leaning back with his eyes closed, his breathing shallow
and uneven.
The hand she’d hastily treated earlier was still seeping blood, staining the white
gauze red.
Nella frowned, unbuckled her own seatbelt, then leaned across Alfred’s lap to reach for his seatbelt.
