No Second Baby No You Only Divorce (Scarlett and Vincent) novel Chapter 717

Violet moved aside as she spoke, reaching out to take the bags from Damian's hands.

Damian didn't pass them over. He chuckled lightly and said, "Don't worry about it—I've got this."

Violet smiled and nodded. "Alright then, whatever you say."

Vincent was standing right outside the front gate, but from the moment Violet opened the door until she ushered Damian inside, she acted as though he weren't even there.

He stood by the gate like a ghost, completely ignored.

And as soon as Damian stepped through, Violet shut the gate firmly behind him.

By the time Vincent snapped out of it and tried to stop her, the door was already closed in his face.

Just then, Clara's soft, young voice carried from inside the manor. "Uncle Damian, you're finally back!"

Vincent heard Damian reply warmly, "Yes, sweetie, I'm home."

Clara's voice piped up again. "Auntie was so worried about you. She couldn't sleep at all when you weren't here."

Damian feigned a stern tone. "And did you stay with your aunt like you promised?"

Clara's voice softened a little. "I did... but she kept talking about you. She was really scared something bad might have happened."

Damian's voice grew faint as he moved farther inside. "Then I'd better go see her right away."

Clara cheered excitedly. "Yay! Auntie will be so happy you're back!"

Right before they entered the living room, Violet gently took Clara's arm. "Alright now, let's not keep your uncle any longer. He needs some time alone with your aunt—she's been feeling really down."

Hearing that, Clara gave a reluctant, "Okay..."

Even though Vincent couldn't catch every word clearly after that, he understood enough.

The way the family treated Damian compared to how they treated him was like night and day.

Even Clara called Damian "Uncle" again and again.

Vincent had never once heard her call him that.

Yet in just a month or two, Damian had won over everyone in the household.

The thought made Vincent's hands tighten into fists.

His chest ached, sharp and heavy, as if something were pressing down on his heart.

A bitter, sour feeling rose in his throat, one he couldn't shake off.
