Scarlett mimicked his tone in return, "I won't break my word."
Hearing her copy his tone intentionally, he chuckled, "You picked up quite a few tricks from Damian."
Scarlett added with double meaning, "Picked up plenty, and not just smooth talking either."
Vincent had no interest in hearing more, face darkening instantly, "Enough—I know what you're implying."
Taking a step closer, Scarlett looked him over with tear-filled eyes, asking, "Vincent, since when were you willing to take back a woman who betrayed you?"
Looking down at her, Vincent offered a heavy warning, "Don't push your luck, Scarlett—Nolan's life hangs entirely on my whim."
At his warning, Scarlett fell silent.
She swallowed her pride solely to save Nolan's life.
So aggravating him further was out of the question.
Seeing her yield for Nolan's sake, Vincent let out a cold smirk, asking, "I wonder who holds a bigger spot in your heart—him or Damian?"
Scarlett refused to answer, simply stating, "I'm exhausted and heading to sleep."
With that, she turned to step out of the master bedroom.
Yet Vincent blocked her path with an outstretched hand.
Before she could speak, her phone rang loudly.
Startled by the ringtone, she pulled out her phone to see Nathan calling.
Insecurity flooded her heart instantly.
Glancing up at Vincent, rage surged violently inside her chest.
Unable to hold back, her hand swung against Vincent's cheek.
Though lacking real power, the slap landed with a sharp crack across his face.
Struck, Vincent covered his cheek, staring at her in sheer disbelief.
Glaring at him with tears spilling down, Scarlett sobbed, "Vincent, you're a lunatic!"
Nathan had explicitly warned her that if she returned to Vincent, the Theron family would disown her.
How was she supposed to handle this now?
