Author’s POV.
Axel turned to Alex. The look in his eyes held fear, and only Alex could identify that.
“To the computer room, Alex. Hazel is nowhere to be found, we need to trace her phone.”
“Okay, Sir.” Alex bowed and took the turn.
“Keep an eye on them,” he whispered to Jade, and he bowed too.
Axel paced to and fro as he allowed Alex to run through the computer.
“My lord…” Axel bowed.
“Her phone seems unreachable.”
“Fuck!” Axel cursed and stared at Alex for an extended amount of time.
“Links to the city CCTV camera, is it still available?”
“Yes, sir.” Alex nodded after taking a minute to recall.
“That’s fair then. Go through it, we need to act fast.”
“Yes, boss,” Alex bowed, facing his computer again and running the mouse through it, while Axel just stood with his fingers randomly running into his scalp. He needed to figure it out. There was something extremely difficult about all that was happening. He barely had any other enemies in town, and he had asked the media not to disclose too much information about Hazel. He doubted if anyone who knew would be around the city to hurt Hazel.
His phone made a gentle beep after a while, and he checked the caller. It was an unknown number. He wanted to push the call aside, but something in his gut told him to pick it up.
He picked up and placed the phone on his ear. For a while, no one from the other end was talking.
Furiously, he made to end the call, but the voice of Hazel brought his hand to an abrupt halt.
“Don’t touch me… Help me, Axel, they are going to kill me…” she cried out, and Axel felt something in him evaporate. His hand tightened into a tight fist, and his blood boiled hot.
“Axel… You said you would never leave me, right? That you would hold onto my hands forever, right? Come over, Axel… Don’t touch me.” she yelled, and that infuriated him, but his voice was as calm as nothing was happening.
“You would not like the state of your head if I find you… Mr…” he nearly knew who he was speaking with.
“You have all the time in the world to run, because if I find a single scratch on her body, you will pray for death.”
Axel didn’t allow the caller to say another word before he ended the call.
“Alex,” he called out.
“Track this number, as fast as possible.”
Alex nodded and took the phone from him and began to work on the number.
His face dropped after a minute, and he stared at Axel.
“Confirm that number, link it to Mr. Li’s phone number, and let me have the result in 10 minutes.”
Alex nodded his head and took the cross-checking as he was asked to.
Axel drove into the compound alongside Alex. They had just one car driving behind them with three guards in it.
They stepped out of the car, and the first thing they did was shoot all the guards outside before walking inside.
Axel walked into the house to meet Mr. Li at his private dining table with a magazine in his hand. He pulled the mask away and took a seat next to Mr. Li.
“To what do I owe this pleasant surprise?” He asked, taking his gaze from his magazine, casually.
Axel smirked and pulled out the pistols, AK-47, Black Eagle, and knife, placing them on the table. He could swear that he saw a little bit of fear in Mr. Li’s eyes, but it vanished after a minute.
“You owe me all the beautiful surprises that you deserve, oldy.”
“What a new name,” he smiled at the name, and Axel helped him to smile too.
“And you would live long to have that title, if only you provide my woman to me without a scratch.”
His tone was dead dangerous, and it sent fearful chills down Mr. Li’s spine, informing Axel that his hunch was right.
Axel stared at the fearful, not-so-old man and whispered, “Your doom is near, Mr. Li. Hasten up. There are lots of people lining up to be killed by me. Make yourself lucky to be the first.”
