James' voice turned noticeably colder. "Missing?"
"Yeah."
Though she answered him, Diana kept her eyes fixed on Theodore.
Half an hour earlier, Megan had been released on medical bail. Bail procedures were usually complicated and time-consuming, yet hers had moved with suspicious speed.
The release was technically lawful, and Theodore's favoritism was no secret. The police could not justify shadowing her every step. No one wanted to offend the wrong person. If Albus passed one day and Theodore assumed control, who would safeguard their positions?
No one expected that the moment supervision eased, Megan would vanish from the hospital as if she had evaporated.
Not only Diana and James, but also Albus and Elizabeth now regarded Theodore with dark expressions.
Florence, however, showed no surprise. Theodore shielding Megan was nothing new.
In the past, Albus had heard rumors. Since nothing had escalated too far, he had turned a blind eye. This time, however, a life had nearly been lost.
Hesitation crossed Theodore's face.
Albus' expression, which had only just softened, darkened again. He slammed his palm on the table. "Theodore! Give me a straight answer. Does this have anything to do with you?"
If his son had truly lost all sense of right and wrong, Albus would rather not have a son at all. Otherwise, the Hutton family's hard-earned reputation would be ruined by his hands.
Theodore seemed distracted. The shout jolted him. He stared blankly for a moment before slowly turning toward Diana.
"How did she disappear?"
