Once a Doormat Now Untouchable (Caleb and Sydney) novel Chapter 636

Elizabeth knew her grandson well. Mischievous as he could be, he had always known his limits and had never crossed any real lines.

Unlike other wealthy heirs who indulged in drinking, gambling, and womanizing, Raymond had kept himself free of every one of those vices. Let alone anything worse.

Fearing that he had once again blown a trivial matter out of proportion, Albus glanced at Diana. When she gave a slight nod, his expression darkened. "Go inside first. We'll talk there."

He stepped into the house without another word.

Theodore's headache intensified on the spot. He turned and glared at the troublemaker.

Raymond remained perfectly composed. "You should have known my grandparents were still around when you slapped me."

He then paused and told Elizabeth and Florence, "I still need to go to the hospital to complete my resignation procedures, so I won't be going in."

Florence nodded. "You're sure you've thought it through?"

"I have," Raymond replied.

Seeing the pain lingering on Elizabeth's face, he bent and whispered something in her ear. Whatever he said made her laugh.

"Alright, alright, you little brat. Get going."

Only then did Raymond turn and leave.

Once his car disappeared from view, Elizabeth looked at Florence. "Is this still about that girl with the surname Voss?"

"Yes." Florence glanced at Diana. "If he regrets it someday—"

"Mom," Diana interrupted calmly. "Whether he regrets it is his own business. That is a matter for the future. No one can predict it. If he has made this choice, then not making it would make him regret it now."

There was no absolute right or wrong in life. No one was omnipotent. Following one's heart in the present was enough.

Florence sighed. "I'm just afraid that one day he'll lose his head and blame that girl."

Practicing medicine had been Raymond's dream since childhood. Now, to secure the family's approval of his relationship, he had to choose a different path.

When love burned hot, everything felt right. But what about the years ahead?

Florence had lived long enough to know she had to think beyond the present.

"Then I'll deal with him," Diana said evenly.
