Only after Joshua finished speaking did Diana finally let out a long breath. The weight lodged in her throat settled back into her chest.

Just as Joshua had said, Theodore might be muddleheaded, but he still feared angering Joshua and letting the matter escalate in front of Albus.

Diana rose and bowed. “Mr. Tarrant, thank you.”

She did not elaborate, but Joshua understood. She was thanking him for stopping Theodore from stumbling into a major case and for giving her an answer she could take back to her younger sister.

Nina waited outside. The moment she saw Diana’s expression, she relaxed. “So, Mr. Hutton wasn’t involved?”

“He wanted to be,” Diana replied.

Now that the tension had eased, fatigue rushed in.

Nina opened the car door, and Diana got in, though she had no intention of resting. “Mr. Tarrant simply didn’t give him the chance.”

A fire rose in her chest. She felt relieved that Theodore had failed to involve himself, but anger followed close behind. For the sake of one woman, he had nearly dragged himself down and almost taken the entire family with

him.

Nina did not dare comment on Theodore. “Then where are we going next?”

“Back to Seraph Villa first.” Diana wanted to go straight to Delta Mansion, but words alone would mean nothing in a matter like this. “Mr. Tarrant will have someone send over a copy of the case file from Brimcrest later.”

Once it arrived, the full picture would be clear. She did not want to test Sydney’s trust with only a few lines, whether true or fabricated. If the matter were minor, that might be different. But with something this serious, doing so would only make things harder for Sydney.

Nina reminded her, “Why not have it sent straight to the office?”

Given Diana’s schedule, she should not have had time to return to Seraph Villa at all.

Diana’s expression cooled. “I have something to deal with there.”

Theodore had already shown such poor judgment. Even if he returned in two years, he would still be a disaster waiting to happen. It would be better if he never came back.
