The tail slapped the giant water man, splattering water everywhere. King reformed, and the World Serpent lunged after him, destroying everything in its path.
Just the heat emanating from the serpent made the environment uninhabitable. With a loud hiss, it came from above and bit down at King, who was in the midst of water.
It swallowed him along with a great portion of water and earth, but the World Serpent couldn’t close its mouth entirely as the Sea King stuck his trident at the edge of its jaws.
Furious, the serpent slammed its head into a building, but King remained adamant. Intense steam billowed off his body due to the heat of the snake’s mouth.
’You think that will save you?!’ Leander roared as he fused with his serpent, forcing the jaws of his summon down. The trident began to tilt as it slowly caved under the pressure.
At that moment, a portal appeared and Levi emerged, coiling itself around the World Serpent’s neck before squeezing with all its might, forcing a thunderous roar from the beast.
’Worthless attempt!’ Leander scowled as magma poured out of his summon’s body. Percival’s leviathan was the first to be soaked in magma so hot that casual flames seemed as harmless as room temperature water compared to it.
Through King’s eyes, Percival saw the depths of the serpent’s throat glow. The heat of whatever was coming blasted King’s face, inflicting severe scorching pain that Percival himself felt through Resonance.
He could hear his leviathan’s cries outside as it continued struggling to strangle the serpent. Making up his mind, Percival made King leap into the glowing depths.
King had no regrets. He was a king, but before Percival, he had dropped his crown and chosen to be his guardian.
A great amount of water burst out of the earth, dozens of tornadoes, all of them curving and forcing their way into the serpent’s mouth.
It tried closing its jaws, but Levi tightened its grip with all its might, pushing beyond its limits to keep the serpent’s mouth open.
The serpent slammed into the earth, tilting its head against what should have been possible in an attempt to rip the Leviathan off, but it couldn’t.
Leander deactivated Fusion, landing in the flooded street amid rubble. He tried to retrieve his serpent but failed.
Before his very eyes, his summon bloated. Water erupted from different parts of its body before it exploded, blood mixed with water spraying in every direction.
Blood coated Leander’s lips as he went mad with rage at Percival, who was on one knee within King’s body. King was badly burned in multiple places, yet he still held his trident as water gently swirled around him.
The burns ran deep, pain flaring through every part of his body. Leander opened a portal behind him, and the hyena pounced, aiming for Percival’s neck.
Percival blocked it with his trident, but the serpent tail moved at great speed, aiming for the exposed neck area where magma had burned away his fine scales.
Just then, an invisible force froze its fangs an inch away from Percival’s flesh. Had it bitten, Percival would have been inflicted with the laughing venom.
Leander lifted his head and saw a graceful female knight whose helmet covered the upper half of her face, with a plume flowing from its crest down to her waist.
Her coat, fur-padded at the shoulders, fluttered as she hovered mid-air through telekinesis.
This nine-foot-tall, elegantly imposing knight lifted her staff, and Leander’s hyena was seized by an invisible force.
