Chapter 166: Change of Heart, Change of Past

Weston walked into a fairly large room, his eyes on the floor-to-ceiling glass wall. He could see a small portion of a towering wall made of gold not too far away, partly blocked by a few skyscrapers.

Softly clicking his tongue, Weston tilted his head toward the bed where Valentina lay, deep in sleep even while thousands panicked outside. Thank God he had arrived a few hours into her labor, or this could have cost him greatly.

However... Weston approached the small bed where a little baby lay, his bright blue eyes wide open as he scanned his surroundings, even when his brain couldn’t really process it all.

Weston smiled. "It’s funny, isn’t it? Look at you, so innocent, and your mother lying there like the future of humanity doesn’t depend on her and you, this innocent little guy..."

He gently caressed Godfrey’s cheek with one finger. "...are in the way. Without you, I’m sure she will gladly give herself to a greater cause as long as she doesn’t remarry. Life can fix itself in mysterious ways."

Weston chuckled as baby Godfrey wrapped his little, soft palm around his finger.

Weston reached in and lifted him out of the hospital cot.

A portal appeared behind him, and a ten-foot-tall leopard with feathered, eagle-like wings tucked in emerged, growling softly.

Weston froze Valentina as she softly reacted to his summon’s appearance. He paused her for about twenty seconds. It consumed a lot of mana, but since she was currently unconscious, the effect wouldn’t degrade quickly.

With gleaming eyes and a salivating mouth, his leopard opened its jaws, revealing its fangs, as Weston stretched baby Godfrey toward it with a cold expression.

"Your death guarantees my freedom. Besides, I vote for the Perfect Life Era."

Godfrey began to cry as he hovered before the leopard like an offering.

Just then, the door burst open, revealing a man in a white flowing coat with silver buttons.

His blond hair was cut short at the sides, his beard trimmed extremely low. He wore black camo pants, boots, and gloves.

Weston couldn’t believe it as his eyes clashed with Ronald’s brown eyes that seemed to pulse with life. He had never seen eyes that displayed so much emotion in his life.

To Ronald, this might be his last visit. He had been on the rooftop, watching his summon fight while waiting to greet his child before leaving. He trusted the authorities to take care of his family for all he had done for them, which was why he was committed to making sure the dungeon break wouldn’t destroy Amazon.

But the moment he saw his newborn child inches away from the leopard’s mouth, something in him snapped.

Weston barely reacted before Ronald was already in front of him, snatching the child from the leopard’s grasp as a projection of a great beast chomped down on the massive creature, dragging it out of the hospital through the glass wall.

Weston turned, throwing a blow at Ronald, but Ronald blocked it by simply grabbing his fist, twisting his entire arm, then grabbing his neck and squeezing hard enough for Weston to see life flash before his eyes.

’I’m a peak-level Lord Tier and this man isn’t even a King Tier! How is he so strong?!’

Weston immediately tried to use Exchange but realized he couldn’t.

The reason struck him the moment he realized his entire body had turned into gold.

’He’s a monster!’

Weston’s terrified face was sealed in gold as he transformed from the inside out into a complete golden sculpture.

He should have never come here. As powerful as he was, his advantage lay in going into the past to kill weaker versions of his targets, but this man consistently entered dungeons, facing and slaying beasts head-on.

They were both strong, but one pushed himself to his limits, and the other preyed on the weak.

Ronald kicked the golden statue out of the window and gently laid the crying baby Godfrey back into his crib.

"Shush..." He placed one finger before his lips before tilting his head and seeing that his wife was already awake.
