Walking through the red gate, Godfrey found himself on rocky terrain, facing a spiked fortress a few hundred feet away. The fortress stood before a cliff.
Godfrey’s eyes narrowed at the sight of hundreds of dead hobgoblins, and yet more were still alive. Two of the strongest goblins led the charge; one wore a ragged robe and held a staff.
He could control objects with his mind, and in a battlefield with lots of discarded weapons, this mini boss was a devastating force.
The other mini boss was a green skinned goblin bigger than a hobgoblin. It wore a bronze crown, had a bulging stomach, and armour from its shoulder down to its wrist. This goblin held a longsword.
It wore a shield like a belt head of the ropes holding his loincloth. Both goblins, with their army, were against a small group of summoners.
This was Team A led by Atlas, who came in search of his wife. He came with his entire team who had volunteered to come, but he didn’t anticipate the numbers of the goblins.
They were five times the size of the kobolds! After killing and killing, even his T-Rex had grown tired, and that was when everything changed. Two of his comrades’ summons were slain by the mage goblin, leaving their flanks open for the goblin horde to push in, separating them.
It became an individual battle, and they were barely hanging by a thread.
Atlas clawed off the head of a goblin and staggered, almost hitting the hard ground. He was tired, drenched in his own sweat and the blood of goblins, yet it seemed like they were endless.
His eyes flashed with despair when the bronze crowned mini boss casually shrugged off his T-Rex’s bite and stabbed it.
Atlas used Exchange, pulled out a dagger, and stabbed down, but the Saint Tier dagger, his most prized possession, broke against the mini boss’ neck.
It wrapped its arm around Atlas’ neck with a cruel smirk.
Just then, Godfrey flared up his aura, unleashing a pressure that descended on the battlefield like a gigantic hammer.
Golden lighting fell from the sky, transforming into lightning war bears led by the bear Lord.
The land crackled with lightning, and Godfrey used Item Materialisation to manifest a spear made entirely out of lightning.
He launched it. The spear slaughtered everything in its path, leaving a trail of black glass on the rocky ground as it pulverised the bronze crowned mini boss’ head. Another killed the mage goblin.
"Handle these goblins. None of them should follow me." Godfrey said as he blitzed through the battlefield, vanishing into the fortress.
"Iris..." Atlas whispered. He didn’t know who his saviour was, but he hoped he could save his wife... if she was still alive.
***
In a great hall within the fortress, a short, ugly goblin with a large nose sat on a huge stone throne, looking down at the humans kneeling before him.
All of them had red swollen marks on their backs, with huge hobgoblins holding whips which they had used to flog all these summoners to the point where some of them were unconscious.
Having lost a lot of blood and being subject to the cruelty which pleased this goblin king for hours, most of them were pale white and at death’s door.
Hearing the goblin king’s laughter as one of her comrades was whipped without mercy, Iris trembled with hate and rage; unfortunately, they couldn’t do a thing to this goblin.
