Chapter 224: Master Of Illusions — Part One

Knock! Knock!

She hit the door twice. "Miss Isolde?" The maid called out. Just then, the door swung open, and the maid quickly went three steps back when she saw Isolde.

"What is it?" Isolde asked coldly.

"I heard you talking. I was a bit confused and wanted to make sure..." the maid tried peeking into the room only for Isolde to swing the door wide open.

"Go ahead, look." Her stern tone made the maid chicken out. Isolde exhaled softly, staring at the empty hallway after the maid had left.

She couldn’t trust them, not when there was a probability the authorities had bribed some to monitor her.

Who knows, they could even threaten their families just to ensure they gave into their demands. She had seen how cruel the authorities could be when they desperately wanted something.

Before high school she admired the agents but now it reeked to watch them continually twist the truth.

She closed the door and looked at the empty room. Godfrey was gone. Isolde pouted as she stared at the forest while leaning on the window frame.

A few hours later, a subway train stopped at a station and Godfrey emerged with the crowd. His head was hung low with the hoodie hiding his face. In this huge crowd, he was almost invisible.

Like a grain of sand at the sea shore. His eyes went to the screen of a guy beside him who watched the news.

The anchor was speaking about a dungeon in Antarctica which had been sealed by an unknown force and might be the first mission for the Association of Origins, an organization of the world’s strongest summoners.

Both of these things were too far to affect him for now so Godfrey turned his attention away. His mind went around the revelation of the Royal Apostles, even Isolde drew them around the alchemists.

Did this mean he would not be able to summon them? Knights were created to be called elites in an order where even the weakest was an elite to other races. Knights that were both guardians and executors even to the likes of Solstice!

Was there a catch here?

And what was the deal with the next knight that was sealed off? Why would the alchemist seal off a knight and from the looks of things that knight might be their strongest.

Quite a few questions he wasn’t expecting had popped up now that he was a Crown Prince by the Castle’s standard.

’Well... I have a dragon knight now. It doesn’t look like those Royal Apostles can be summoned individually though. C’mon, Godfrey! Stop thinking about those knights.’ He shook his head.

The second he opened his eyes, Godfrey discovered everyone had vanished. The light sound of footsteps made him look back.

"Long time."

Godfrey frowned at the sight of snow. He wore a loose white top, bogus pants and black sneakers. His necklace had a black butterfly shaped pendant.

’Black hair. I guess that’s the effect of the mana fruit. If the effects were like Percival’s, then I guess I’m up against an Origin Tier summoner. It’s a good thing I gave the Dark Lich’s core to Solstice and he rose from 19.5 to 19.8.’ Godfrey muttered within him.

"No words?" Snow chuckled, flashing a charming smile. His expression changed in the next moment, his smile vanishing like it was never there. "You’re in my illusion, Godfrey. When did you decide to get weak?"

A phantom of his summon appeared behind him with its multicoloured glowing wings spread out.

"Do you want to find out how weak I’ve gotten?" Godfrey’s eyes glowed.

Snow felt his grip over the illusion falter. His eyes narrowed. ’He’s not fallen off. What a persistent freak. If his eyes go black, he’ll get stronger. Good thing I got my own defense mechanism. He’ll get angry if he figures that out won’t he?’
