Chapter 12 Why Are They Chasing Me?
The sparrowhawk let out a mournful cry.
It lost balance in midair and carried Silas straight into Scorpion Three’s enormous mouth.
All of this happened within a handful of breaths.
Just as Noah and the others thought they were next, the Golden Tarric Scorpion and Scorpion Three suddenly stopped chasing them.

Instead, both monsters turned and headed back.
“What do we do…? It looks like they’re going after Julian…”
Noah’s voice was full of despair.
Elsewhere, Julian was fleeing in the opposite direction from the main group on the energy hoverboard.
But very soon, he realized the Golden Tarric Scorpion that had been chasing Merrick and the others had stopped.
The psychic signatures that had belonged to Talia and Silas had disappeared completely as well.
His heart sank.
Before Julian could even say, This is bad, he sensed the Golden Tarric Scorpion and the Tarric Scorpion coming toward him with visible excitement.
Far more eagerly than they had chased Talia.
Julian: “…”
Could they open their damn eyes?
Was he an Omega? Why were they chasing him?
“Awoo?”
At the same time, inside a certain factory, the wolf king lying beside a tall, slender figure twitched its nose. Its silver ears shot upright.
In the blink of an eye, it vanished from where it had been.
Julian’s speechlessness had not yet faded when his powerful senses caught an extremely faint cry for help.
“Help… help me…”
He looked up and saw an old acquaintance.
Cole was lying on the ground, covered in blood and mangled flesh.
Alphas had extremely strong vitality. With current medical technology, as long as they did not die on the

spot, even losing the lower half of their body was something they could recover from.
“Fine. Since I’m already here.”
Julian only considered it for one second before picking Cole up and tossing him into a nearby sewer.
He even threw in a small bottle of hemostatic gel as a bonus.
“That’s all I can do. Whether you live or die depends on your luck.”
Cole: “…”
Great. Fantastic. So now he was a lottery ticket.
Unfortunately, he had no strength to speak, and Julian had no time to chat.
Julian drifted sharply on the energy hoverboard, then shot into a massive stretch of factory ruins without looking back.
The ground trembled again.
Julian could clearly sense the two high-rank insectoids closing in.
As the Golden Tarric Scorpion’s vanguard, the Tarric Scorpion swung its huge claws all the way forward, smashing every building and factory in its path.
The Golden Tarric Scorpion followed behind at a slower pace, and the energy around it grew stronger with
every step.
At that moment, Julian finally understood just how much of a tonic Omegas were to the insectoids.
“But what the hell does that have to do with me? I’m a Beta!”
He urgently steered the hoverboard into a narrow alley and barely avoided the Tarric Scorpion’s stinger.
That was right.
The Tarric Scorpion was not especially fast while plowing through buildings like they were paper, but the damn thing was huge, and its strides were massive.
Before Julian could catch his breath, the stinger that had just missed him whipped back again.
If Julian had not leapt up instantly, run a few steps along the stinger, and landed back on the hoverboard, he might really have been hooked and dragged back.
Missing him again and again clearly infuriated the Tarric Scorpion.
It let out several shrill cries.
“Great. Just great. You can’t catch me, so now you’re calling backup?”
Julian felt his luck had hit rock bottom.
Because after the Tarric Scorpion shrieked, a winged locust-type insectoid nearby immediately flew toward

him.
Earlier, because high-rank insectoids were in the area, the lower-rank insectoids had not dared to approach.
Now the boss had personally ordered the grunts in.
How could they not come?
Julian drew the laser pistol at his waist and fired two shots straight into the locust-type’s eyes.
With his spiritual sense supporting him, aiming at their weak points was far too easy.
And lower-rank insectoids really were brainless.
Several of them had already gone down after he blew out their eyes with two shots.
He had just dodged the crashing locust-type when a roaring giant cockroach charged straight at him.
Julian made the call instantly.
He lay flat on the hoverboard, his entire body almost level with it, and shot beneath the cockroach’s abdomen in a single smooth pass.
The creature’s foul, reeking saliva almost dripped onto his face, making his already uncomfortable body
retch.
“Ugh!”
