Chapter 13 You Could’ve Mentioned You Were This Strong
Tarric Scorpion: “!”
A violent shriek erupted from the Tarric Scorpion whose eye Julian had injured.
It was the fury of a strong predator being challenged by something weak.
Its twin pincers and massive tail began thrashing wildly. The scorpion forced Julian to dodge left and right until his legs went weak for a split second, and one mistake cost him the hoverboard beneath his feet.
The scorpion’s tail smashed it to pieces.
Julian: “…”
What made him even more desperate was that his breathing had started to burn. His mind felt slow and sticky, as if someone had poured glue through it.
He forced himself to run a few more steps. He could almost clearly sense the path of the stinger coming from behind him, but this useless body felt so heavy that he could not dodge.
The Tarric Scorpion let out an eager shriek.
It was the madness of prey finally within reach.
Unfortunately, before drool could even finish spilling from the side of its huge mouth, a golden stinger pierced straight through it.
Tarric Scorpion: “…”
Julian watched as the Golden Tarric Scorpion behind it tightened its tail, lifted the Tarric Scorpion-nearly its own size-into the air, opened its mouth, and began eating it.
Eating its own kind was bad enough.
But while it chewed, those huge beady eyes still stared at Julian, glowing red.
Julian blinked.
The Golden Tarric Scorpion blinked too.
Julian: “…
Do you think you’re funny?
In reality, the Golden Tarric Scorpion was not funny at all.
The sounds of it chewing through its own kind, mixed with the Tarric Scorpion’s screams as it was eaten alive, were the kind of thing that could give any normal person nightmares.
Julian even saw half of a familiar face when the Golden Tarric Scorpion bit open the Tarric Scorpion’s
stomach.

Half of it, frozen in despair.
It stared at him as if saying, Come on, Julian. Join Talia and me. Become part of this disgusting bug’s meal.
“Screw that goddamn heavenly tribulation. I hope your entire bloodline gets cursed.”
Unable to run, Julian could only watch as the Golden Tarric Scorpion finished eating its own kind and cam
closer.
Then he laughed.
He lay flat on his back on the ground.
Not because he had given up.
Because he was ready to detonate his spiritual sense and take this dead bug with him.
And then…
He met a pair of cold emerald wolf eyes.
The dazzling silver wolf even tilted its head slowly and gave him an excited “awoo.”
Julian: “…”
Uh. Do we know each other?
Under the yellow sky, the black-haired young man lay across the endless factory ruins. His amber, catlike eyes were misty, dazed, and full of confusion.
For one moment, he even wondered if his brain had burned itself out.
Otherwise, why would he suddenly be seeing a silver wolf?
He clearly had not sensed any other energy approaching.
“Go. If you stay, I’ll blow you up too.”
Julian reached out and stroked the silver wolf’s rough fur. His voice softened in a rare way.
“Awoo.”
The silver wolf glanced sideways and licked his palm.
Then, with one leap, it jumped over him and faced the Golden Tarric Scorpion slowly approaching them.
As if sensing that something wanted to steal its prey, the Golden Tarric Scorpion released a piercing shrick. The sound made Julian’s already dizzy head throb even harder.
Julian thought the silver wolf would finally understand the danger.
Instead, it stayed where it was and slowly lowered its body into a clear attack stance.

Then the silver wolf, which had only been the size of an ordinary wolf king, began growing before his eye
It kept growing until it was the same size as the Golden Tarric Scorpion showing off in front of it
Julian: “?”
Golden Tarric Scorpion: “?”
The golden scorpion shrieked again.
This time, it was no longer a warning.
It was the start of an attack.
But before its huge pincers could even rise, the silver-white wolf slapped it across the face.
Starlight flashed across its sharp claws.
The Golden Tarric Scorpion’s golden carapace split open instantly, and black-green blood rained down.
Before the scorpion could react, the giant wolf raised its paw and struck again.
This time, it clawed one of the scorpion’s eyes blind, pinned the creature beneath its paw, and expertly tore through its abdomen.
Julian: “If you were this strong, you could’ve said something earlier…”
The silver-white wolf did not answer.
