Outcast Omega Pampered by the Alpha General novel Chapter 14

Chapter 14 The Last Order Before the Gate

Under the same sky. Tristan Whitmore was piloting his mecha to block an attack from a Golden Tarric Scorpion. Before the scorpion could react, he drove a fist into its abdomen.

The scorpion shrieked in pain and was soon pinned down by a giant crocodile spirit form. The two sides locked into a brutal struggle.

“We’re fine for now, but the other students are probably in danger.”

Inside the combat channel, Elias Whitmore sat in Caelan Rookwood’s mecha. His gaze looked grave, but his heart was burning with excitement.

Caelan really was powerful.

At this point, not only had their entire squad survived, they could still respond to the instructors’ calls and move around the battlefield to help others.

Once this incident ended, their squad would become famous across the Imperial Military Academy, maybe even across the whole military.

By then, the position of top Omega in their year would definitely belong to Elias Whitmore.

“Elias, don’t lose focus.”

Caelan’s deep blue eyes watched Elias as he reminded him in a surprisingly gentle tone.

“I’m sorry…”

Hearing that, Elias immediately steadied his psychic power. The golden rose wrapped around the ice-blue giant eagle burst into full bloom.

With one sharp eagle cry, a Golden Tarric Scorpion was slammed down from high above. Countless icy feathers then pierced through its abdomen.

From beginning to end, Caelan Rookwood, the one executing all of this, remained remarkably calm.

“Isn’t that Merrick Holt’s mecha? How did even the cockpit get smashed open?”

Tristan’s confused voice came through the squad channel.

Caelan and Elias turned back at the same time and saw another battered mecha not far from the bright red

one.

The battered mecha suddenly sped up the moment it saw them.

At the same time, their squad channel received a rescue request from Squad B1589.

“It’s Julian! Something happened to Julian! Tristan, Caelan, please, let’s go save him!”

Elias glanced at the rescue message and immediately spoke in an anxious voice.

But another squad member gave a cold laugh.

“Wasn’t he the one who said talking to our captain was a waste of breath? And Elias, you’re too nice les just jealous of you and keeps targeting you. Stop helping him every time.”

“No matter what, Julian is still Tristan’s brother by blood. Even if his personality is difficult, we can’t just

Tristan originally felt the faintest pull of family obligation.

But then he thought of the chaos Julian had brought to their family, and of Elias suffering grievances whil still trying to consider the bigger picture.

That last bit of softness disappeared.

“We invited him to join the squad. He was the one who threw a fit and brought this on himself. Elias, don’y worry about him. In this life, I only have one brother, and that’s you.”

Boom.

A violent explosion rang out by his ears, one after another.

The command ship beneath Orion Ashford shook under the blasts. Pain pulsed through his eardrums, and before him stretched a black tide with no end in sight.

“General, all escort mechas have been wiped out!”

“General, we’ve lost Wargod of Extinction and Skyfall Judgment…”

“Report! Defense system failure! The insectoids are about to break through our line!”

“Report-”

Orion turned back.

In the vast, silent depths of space, the galaxy shone brilliantly.

And where the streams of starlight gathered stood an enormous deep-space gate, vast and dark, carrying both the unknown and humanity’s last hope.

At that very moment, the Empire’s final 1,156 transport ships were assembling in front of the gate.

They carried three million frozen embryos, the civilization database, and the last surviving human research team led by Chief Researcher R of the White Tower.

They also carried millions upon millions of ordinary people.

They would take the last spark of human civilization and travel tens of millions of light-years into the

unknown.

“General, the insectoids have broken through the right flank!”

Outside the porthole, the black tide of insectoids surged again. The sound of their claws scraping across battleship armor was like ghosts wailing.

“Report energy reserves.”

Orion’s voice was hoarse but calm.

His adjutant, Caleb Hayes, spoke with a tremor in his voice.

Orion slowly closed his deep, cold emerald eyes.

When he opened them again, he had already connected to the bridge of the Ark Project’s main ship.

“I’m sorry, Dr. R. I’m afraid this is as far as we can go with you.”

“… Understood.”

The female voice on the other end fell silent for only one second.

Yet it felt like an entire era.

The light of the deep-space gate grew brighter and brighter, like the final dawn before daybreak.

Huge insectoid shadows opened their hideous mandibles, and their razor-sharp shrieks tore through humanity’s last moment of peace.

Orion straightened his collar.

The imperial emblem on his cuff was long gone.

But he still remembered the oath he and countless classmates had spoken aloud at their military academy graduation.

“With our flesh and blood, we build the Great Wall of Stars.”

The alarm signaling empty energy reserves screamed through the bridge.

Orion opened the all-channel broadcast. His low, steady voice echoed through the empty command deck.

“Soldiers, humanity has reached the edge of extinction. All we can do is give everything we have. I am issuing this order to the entire fleet, and I hope you can forgive the decision I’m about to make.”

The universe itself seemed to fall silent.

The entire human channel went still.

“All forces, face away from the gate. Burn everything we still have to burn…”
