Outcast Omega Pampered by the Alpha General novel Chapter 3

Chapter 3 Do You Think You’re Funny?

“Merrick’s squad?”

Julian brushed messy black hair off his forehead, his amber cat-like eyes still heavy with sleep

His roommate, Noah Wells, stared at him as if he wanted to jolt him fully awake.

“You forgot Merrick’s squad? Seriously? Everyone in our department voted it the last squad anyone would ever want to get into for this field assessment.”

It finally clicked for Julian.

He was a first-year student in the Mecha Engineering Department at the Imperial Military Academy in the capital world.

The Solara System had been at war for years, so the Empire placed great importance on its military. From the moment cadets enrolled, they were expected to take part in real field exercises, often traveling to barren planets or war-zone worlds to clear out insectoids.

This midterm field assessment would be led by two third-year students from the Mecha Combat Department. Each five-person squad would be sent to Zerath.

Before the assessment began, the third-year leaders had posted team recruitment notices on the academy network, allowing all first-years to apply freely.

Getting accepted was never a guarantee, and even after joining, members could still be dismissed later on.

“Honestly, what were you thinking?” Noah kept rambling. “Caelan Rookwood is the top student among all third-years. His team also included your second brother, Tristan Whitmore, and Elias Whitmore, a top-tier Omega. That kind of squad is not for Class F bottom-feeders like us.”

The chubby Noah had clearly given Julian this speech more than once.

He expected Julian to glare at him darkly and tell him to mind his own business.

Instead, Julian nodded with deep agreement.

“You’re right.”

Noah froze on the spot.

Shaking off his inner confusion, he went on, “We’re boarding the ship first thing tomorrow morning. So what’s your plan?”

The independent cultivator, who had barely gotten his footing in this world before being shipped off to a battlefield, thought for a moment.

“I’d like to die.”

Noah: “?”

The next morning, the Imperial Military Academy’s private spaceport was packed with people.

Juhan was one of them.

“My squad’s up ahead. I’m going first.”

Noah carried the standard tool kit for Mecha Engineering students and waved goodbye to Julian who was yawning so hard his eyes watered.

Unlike Noah’s ordinary squad, Merrick’s squad was a core squad with an Omega assigned to 1

There were 180 first-year Omegas this year, but only 62 had chosen to participate in this assessment. In other words, among nearly three thousand squads, only 62 were core squads.

Any squad like that had to be strong. Otherwise, no one would dare bring a rare Omega into a combat

assessment.

So by the time Julian found his assigned squad, he had already reached the very front of the entire formation.

“You’re Julian Shaw? The one who lost it on the forum?”

A tall Alpha looked Julian up and down with a mocking smile. Aside from the captain, Merrick Holt, he was the other third-year student on the squad-the deputy captain, Cole Ward.

Julian lifted his eyelids with visible effort.

“Yeah.”

Cole raised an eyebrow and immediately reached out as if to sling an arm around Julian’s shoulders.

Julian stepped aside and dodged him.

Cole’s hand landed on nothing, and the smile on his face faded a little.

“I’m Cole Ward, a third-year Mecha Combat senior. This is Silas Vale, first-year Reconnaissance trainee. That’s Talia Vale, first-year Healing.”

The young man and young woman Cole introduced looked noticeably alike.

Silas, a male Alpha, was not as broad as Cole, but he was tall, lean, and strong.

Talia was a textbook Omega. Everyone else wore black combat uniforms, but she alone wore a little white lace dress.

She looked less like she was about to enter field training, and more like she was dressed for a picnic.
