England.
Aria–no, she should now be called Phoenix–stood in front of a grand castle–like estate, feeling a little dazed.
She never imagined that a trip abroad would lead her to discover her biological parents.
On the plane, a well–dressed woman seated next to her had glanced at her several times. Out of politeness, Phoenix greeted her, and the two struck up a conversation.
The woman introduced herself as a migrant wolf clan member settled in England. She explained that she had returned to New York on this trip
to search for her missing daughter.
She and her husband had been living overseas, running a business. By coincidence, their youngest daughter had been born on a full moon night. They decided to stay an extra month at home and planned to leave after celebrating her first month milestone. But the day before their departure, their daughter vanished.
They immediately contacted the police and rallied friends to help search for her. After a month of relentless searching with no leads, the police
concluded that she had likely been kidnapped and that the chances of finding her were slim.
With their visas about to expire, they had no choice but to leave the country. Yet, they never gave up. They entrusted friends in New York to continue the search and made an annual trip back to the city where she disappeared, staying there for a month each time.
This year marked the 26th year of their search. Despite friends and family urging them to move on, they clung to a shred of hope. Once again,
they returned disappointed.
But when the woman saw Phoenix, she felt an inexplicable sense of familiarity, which was why she kept looking at her.
Phoenix, too, felt a natural warmth from the woman, so much so that she shared her own story.
When the woman learned that Phoenix was an orphan and that she had grown up in the same city where her daughter had gone missing, her
emotions visibly surged. She clasped Phoenix’s hands and asked if she would agree to a DNA test after they landed.
Seeing the woman and her husband’s earnest, hopeful expressions, Phoenix couldn’t help but nod.
As soon as the plane landed, the couple had their chauffeur take them to the nearest DNA testing center.
After an anxious wait, the results came out.
Phoenix was indeed their long–lost daughter.
When they saw the test results, the couple broke down, holding Phoenix as they sobbed uncontrollably.
For the first time, Phoenix realized she wasn’t an unwanted child. Her parents had loved her deeply and had been searching for her for 26 years.
After consulting with her, they decided to keep the name “Phoenix” but added their family name. From that moment on, she became Phoenix
Ambrose.
She carefully unwrapped the box and found a diamond bracelet inside.
A sudden thought struck her, and without hesitation, she opened the remaining boxes.
Inside were a gold bangle, a princess dress, a tiara, and a necklace…
There were exactly 26 items–no more, no less.
Tears welled up in Phoenix’s eyes.
These were her birthday gifts.
Even though she hadn’t been with them, her parents had prepared a gift for her every year, waiting for the day she would return to open them.
The bullying she endured at the orphanage had once convinced her that no one in the world would ever love her.
That was why, when Kane had burst into her life like a blazing ray of sunshine, she couldn’t help but fall hopelessly for him.
But now, she finally realized that in a place she never knew, her parents had loved her more than she could have imagined.
Phoenix threw her arms around her parents.
