Please Come Back, My Love novel Chapter 205

Chapter 205

I only agreed to show up because, for once, my Saturday was clear no urgent tasks, no corporate crises. I straightened my jacket, adjusted my tie, and walked into the estate’s grand entrance, moving toward a room I was rarely permitted to enter: my father’s study. His private sanctum. And for some reason, I’d never been considered worthy of it.

As I raised my hand to knock, a familiar voice cut through the heavy door.

“I won’t allow it!” my mother shouted. “I won’t let that woman into this family!”

“My word is final,” my father replied with ice in his voice.

“Final?” Mother barked. “You are neither king nor god!”

“Nor are you!” he thundered. “And Theron will do as I say. He knows it’s the only way to secure the consortium.”

“Why these people?” she demanded. “They’re dangerous. They’ll destroy everything you and Otis built!”.

A pause. Then Father’s voice, quieter.

“Twila… this is the only path left. I trust Theron to handle it.”

“So you expect your son to clean up your mess?” she spat.

His reply chilled me. “He’s my loophole. I’d fix this myself if I could… but I can’t.”

I’d heard enough. Rage pulsed in my blood as I shoved open the door.

“I heard every word,” I said, locking eyes with him. “If you expect me to fix this disaster, then you’d better start talking.”

Behind me, my mother stood and rushed out without a word, the door clicking shut in her wake.

My gaze returned to my father, who looked like he’d aged five years in five seconds.

“Well?” I said.

He let out a long breath. “Years ago, Chun Kit helped me resolve a… hurt. But he made a fatal mistake trusted the wrong people. I did what I had to do to protect the company.”

I sat down, my expression stone. “The plane crash. Was it their doing?”

He nodded solemnly. “It wasn’t an accident.”

My teeth clenched. “Then why cover it up?”

He looked away. “Because if law enforcement got involved FBI, SEC it would all unravel. Every transaction connected to that crash

would come to light. The company would be obliterated.”

A humorless sound escaped me. “So you chose to bury your brother’s murder to protect your empire?”

“I didn’t forgive the men who did it,” he hissed. “And I never forgot. But Chun Kit… he had ties. He knew those people. I needed

him.”

I stared at him, realization settling. “So you used him. Let me guess: he demanded something in return?”

“He had leverage,” Father admitted. “We signed a contract. At the time, it sounded theoretical. A merger between two companies… and a marriage between our children. But he didn’t have any kids then. His wife was dying. He was a nobody in the digital world or

so I believed.”

I leaned back, voice bitter. “Then a few months ago, he called. Told you about Pink Dolphin. About his stepdaughter. And reminded

you of your debt.”

My father nodded slowly. “Their books are solid. The contract says that with the merger, you’ll oversee both the American and Chinese arms of the company. This could be an opportunity.”

“An opportunity?” I spat. “Tell me, Father does Chun Kit still run the Hong Kong Triad?”

He hesitated. “I don’t know. Maybe.”

I stood. “Then I’ll stop the merger. And the marriage. I’ll expose him. I’ll put him behind bars.”
