Apollo’s whore
Grace
The moment I stepped into the room, the first thing I saw was Piper’s smug face. For a split second, something flickered in her expression, fear. But she forced the smugness back almost immediately, lifting her chin as if she weren’t sitting in a prison interrogation room wearing a filthy jumpsuit, her hair a tangled mess.
She looked nothing like her former self.
Piper’s eyes dragged over me slowly, surprise flaring in them. Without my wig and glasses, I barely resembled the person she was used to seeing.
Landon, on the other hand, reacted like he’d just seen a ghost. His whole body jerked back even though the handcuffs kept him trapped against the table. His already bruised face went completely pale. He tried to scoot farther away, but the metal clinked, holding him in place.
He looked worse than I expected. Apollo hadn’t even focused on him last night; most of Apollo’s fury had been directed at Jackson. So those new bruises, someone else must’ve caused them.
River.
He was the only one who made sense. River wasn’t an aggressive person; in fact, he always looked calm. But calm didn’t mean harmless. River might not raise his voice or throw the first punch, but there was something about him that told everyone he was dangerous.
And after Apollo, River was the last man I ever wanted to cross.
Jackson wasn’t here, but after what Apollo did to him last night, I wasn’t surprised. He was probably in a hospital bed right now, or at least he should be.
I swallowed, pushing it away. It didn’t matter right now. I wasn’t here to pity anyone or replay last night in my head. I just wanted answers. They wouldn’t change anything, but I needed to hear the words from their own mouths. I needed to understand why.
I walked toward the table, toward them. Piper still didn’t drop the act, she kept that fake confidence plastered onto her face as if she was above all of this.
I stopped in front of her and held her gaze before sitting down slowly in the chair opposite them. Piper’s smirk widened, like she thought she had the upper hand somehow. I didn’t look away. I stared right back.
Beside her, Landon suddenly slid off his chair and dropped to his knees in front of me. The movement was so desperate, I didn’t react at first. Then he reached out his hand trembling, trying to touch my knee.
I instantly pulled my leg back, the revulsion punching through me so hard I almost stood up. The thought of any of them touching me made my stomach twist. I was pretending I was okay today. Pretending I was fine. But the fear sitting deep inside me wasn’t something I could switch off just because I wanted to be strong.
Seeing his hand reach toward me made every part of me claw inward in disgust.
Before I could say anything, Austin stepped closer behind me, his voice cold, and sharp.
“I would advise you not to touch Miss Grace,” he said. “Someone like you doesn’t deserve to touch her. And

besides, he hates it when someone lays a hand on her.”
Those words from Austin seemed to drain every last bit of color from Landon’s face. He flinched like he’d been struck and shuffled backward on his knees, both hands awkwardly pressed to the floor. His voice trembled.
“Grace–no, Miss Grace, please. Please forgive me. Forgive me for what I did. I didn’t mean to do that to you. Please, it was all a misunderstanding. I’ll never do it again. I’ll repent, I—”
My gaze darkened immediately.
A misunderstanding?
Was he seriously calling what happened to me a misunderstanding?
He kept going. “Please forgive me, Miss Grace. Please. I have a family that depends on me. If I knew it would get like this, I wouldn’t have agreed to anything. I wouldn’t have touched you if I knew you were the boss’s woman.”
His voice cracked as tears spilled down his swollen cheeks. “You know what? It’s her fault-” He pointed at Piper, his hand shaking. “She planned everything. She tricked me. I’m a victim here too. Please, find it in your heart to forgive me and talk to the boss. If he takes action, my whole life will be over.”
He sobbed loudly, his shoulders shaking.
I felt nothing.
I didn’t pity him, didn’t sympathize. All I felt was pure disgust.
Piper might have started it but he agreed. Even with a family at home, he still chose to corner me, to lay his hands on me, to follow Piper’s petty jealousy into something vile. That wasn’t a mistake. That wasn’t a misunderstanding. That was who he was.
He saw my cold expression and opened his mouth again, but Piper sighed dramatically and rolled her eyes, crossing her legs like she was lounging in a cafe.
“You’re really a useless man, Landon,” she said lazily. “You can’t even man up. You already did something, why are you crying like a child? And like I said, I didn’t force your sorry ass. You were mad she embarrassed you in front of everyone. That’s one of the reasons you agreed.”
Landon’s face turned beet red, and he snarled at her, “Shut up!”
Piper only shrugged like he wasn’t worth the breath. Then her eyes snapped to me, dripping with hatred.
“And you,” she spat. “Who the fuck do you think you are?” She leaned forward, sneering. “Just because you’re Apollo’s whore, you think you’re something now?”
Austin’s anger flared. “You-” he started, stepping forward, but I shook my head.
Piper’s smirk widened. She thought I was holding back to avoid a scene, that I was still the naive, foolish girl who would let it go. She had no idea. She was about to get a harsh wake–up call about what happens when someone is finally pushed past their limits.
