I want to be with you, Apollo
Apollo
I looked down at Grace, an amused smile tugging at my lips as I took in her expression. She looked trapped, cornered by her own choices, and thoughts, like a deer caught in headlights, except she wasn’t trying very hard to escape. If anything, she looked like she didn’t know whether she wanted to run or stay exactly where she was.
I loved it.
I loved watching her squirm under my gaze, loved how aware she was of me, of every breath I took, of every inch of space between us. I loved the way she wanted me even when she tried so hard to pretend she didn’t. There was something intoxicating about it. About the way her emotions played so openly across her face while she tried to keep control.
Grace opened her mouth as if to say something, probably an excuse, but my eyes dropped to her lips before she could speak. My amusement deepened into something more possessive.
When she noticed what I was staring at, she licked her lips instinctively.
The sight dragged a low sound from my chest before I could stop it.
“It’s like you’re testing my patience on purpose, princess,” I murmured, my voice rougher than before. “Do you honestly think I wouldn’t make everyone leave and claim you right now if I wanted to?”
Her body trembled at my words, and for a brief second, I saw the way she looked at me, as if she wanted me to, but then she shook her head slightly, as if arguing with herself rather than with me.
She lifted her hand, trembling slightly, and pointed at the screen. “W–we should really… pay attention to the movie.”
But the moment she spoke, the man on the screen thrust into the woman’s mouth, her loud, breathless moans filling the theater.
I raised an eyebrow slowly and looked back at Grace.
Her face turned an even deeper shade of red, and she bit h

I tilted my head, my eyes never leaving her face. “Very.”
She swallowed, clearly choosing to ignore the meaning behind my answer. Instead, she reached for my hanu, her fingers wrapping around mine tightly, as if afraid I might do something if she let go.
“Then let’s go eat,” she said quickly.
Before I could respond, she was already pulling me up, dragging me out of the theater without a second thought. The movie continued playing behind us, forgotten. People stared as we passed, but neither of us cared. I let her lead me, finding far too much satisfaction in how determined she suddenly was.
Once we were outside, she finally stopped.
She took a deep breath, like she’d been holding it the entire time, the cool night air lifting her hair as she ran a hand through it. She turned to look at me, and the moment her eyes met mine and saw the amusement there,

she looked away immediately.
She coughed awkwardly. “We can…. watch a movie another time. That one was a little too much.”
I didn’t answer right away. I just watched her, my smile slow.
Another time, she said.
That sentence pleased me more than I expected. As if, without realizing it, she had already decided there would be more moments like this, more nights, and more memories with me. The thought alone was enough to make my mood lighten.
“I see,” I said slowly, my tone casual. “That’s a shame though. I was actually interested in the movie. I wanted to learn more ways of pleasing you.”
Her reaction was immediate. Her face flushed so deeply it crept all the way to her ears, and she looked away, clearly flustered. “You don’t need to learn,” she muttered under her breath. “You’re really good at it….”
My lips twitched despite myself. I leaned closer, lowering my head just enough to invade her space, my voice quiet and teasing. “What was that? I didn’t quite hear you.”
She hesitated, then looked up at me, meeting my gaze with shy determination. “I said you’re already good.”
I raised an eyebrow, putting on an innocent look. “Good at what?”
At this point, her ears were completely red. “A–apollo stop teasing me,” she said, embarrassed. “I said you’re good at-
I didn’t let her finish.
I leaned down and kissed her.
For a split second, she froze, her eyes widening in surprise, and then she melted into me as if she’d been waiting for it. Her arms slid around my neck, holding me close, and I wrapped my hands around her waist, pulling her against me. The kiss deepened naturally, filled with everything we hadn’t said out loud.
When I finally pulled back, I lifted my hand to her face. I bru ed a loose strand of hair away from her cheek, my thumb lingering there as I spoke.
“You-”
“Thank you for trying so hard today,” I said, cutting her off. “But you don’t have to go out of your way for me. Just be yourself, princess.”
She blinked, then looked away, guilt flickering across her face. Of course I knew she’d been trying to make today easier for me. She didn’t try to hide it. It wasn’t that I was complaining, I loved her confidence, but I didn’t want her doing this just to make me forget. I wanted her here because she wanted to be with me.
“But you were working so hard to forget,” she said quietly.
“I wasn’t trying to forget,” I replied. “Or torturing myself. I was trying to find out what the Jones family wanted with you.”
She looked up at me, surprise flickering across her face. She hadn’t expected to be the reason I’d been so busy all

day, but she mattered to me more than she thought.
“I won’t deny the past, I won’t deny that it shaped who I am. But I don’t want to live like that anymore.” My gaze held hers. “Now that I have you, I want to actually live. I want a life with you.” 1
Even as the words left my mouth, I realized how unfamiliar they were to me. For someone who had spent years shutting everyone out, standing outside a movie theater confessing feelings like this felt surreal. But I didn’t want to stop myself anymore. Life was too short, and for the first time, I wanted to experience it fully with her.
She stared at me, her mouth slightly open, as if she couldn’t believe what she was hearing, before she smiled.
“Me too,” she said softly. “I want to be with you, Apollo.” 3
She hugged me, and this time my smile was real. I wrapped my arms around her, holding her close, feeling a sense of certainty I hadn’t felt in years.
I didn’t know what the future held. I didn’t know what obstacles waited ahead.
All I knew was this, I would never let this woman go.
